The quote from the old dead pope contains the very conflation I was describing ... and still the Catholic mind will not acknowledge it.

The whole quote:

"One indeed is the universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved, in which the priest himself is the sacrifice, Jesus Christ, whose body and blood are truly contained in the sacrament of the altar under the species of bread and wine; the bread (changed) into His body by the divine power of transubstantiation, and the wine into the blood, so that to accomplish the mystery of unity we ourselves receive from His (nature) what He Himself received from ours."

It'a a little confusing, I never knew they teach that the priest is the sacrifice.

I took the quote and made it into two parts, using the name "Jesus Christ" as the end of one thought and also the beginning of another which produces this:

One indeed is the universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved, in which the priest himself is the sacrifice, Jesus Christ

And then this:

Jesus Christ, whose body and blood are truly contained in the sacrament of the altar under the species of bread and wine; the bread (changed) into His body by the divine power of transubstantiation, and the wine into the blood, so that to accomplish the mystery of unity we ourselves receive from His (nature) what He Himself received from ours.

That seems to make the total proclamation quite confusing.

Do you suppose that was the plan?

The priest is the sacrifice, and then it goes on to make it look like the "sacrifice" is Jesus-in-a-waifer.

So does the priest get eaten (as he is the sacrifice) or is it the waifer that they think they inject Jesus into?

The catholiciism ritual does not discern The Body of Christ. The various heresies flow from there.

No, he hadn’t. We never really talked about religion. Now that he’s gone, I wish that I would have been more curious about what he was studying during his training. He did talk about the time two Jehovah’s Witnesses came knocking at the door. Dad told them that he was just getting ready to study the Commentary of St. Jerome, and invited them to join him.
