I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.(Deuteronomy 18:18-19)

The time had come for the LORD to remember his covenant with Abraham,Isaac and Jacob, and bring his chosen people out of bondage in Egypt and back into the promised Land.

The LORD would use one of them, to be a deliverer of the people.

In the midst of Pharoah’s Satan inspired holocaust of Hebrew male babies, a faithful couple named Amram and Jochabed bore a baby boy, and realized God’s call upon his life. They hid him from Pharaoh as long as possible, but when it was no longer possible, they put him in an ark of reed, covered with pitch,(Like Noah’s Ark), and lowered him into the Nile.

The babe’s older sister followed among the reeds of the Nile, until the ark came to the place where Pharoah’s daughter bathed. The Egyptians worshipped the Nile as a god, so when the basket approached her, it was as though the “god” had brought her a gift.

But she knew the babe was one of the Hebrew children.

And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it. And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children. Then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee? And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child’s mother. And Pharaoh’s daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the women took the child, and nursed it. And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.( Exodus 2:5-10)

Miriam, the babe’s sister offered to find a woman to nurse the baby, and Pharoah’s daughter agreed and paid for the service. Thus was Moses hidden, in Pharoah’s house, and raised and nursed by his own mother, at Pharoah’s expense, until the time came for him to adopted by the queen.

The child was named Moses, “drawn out” because she had pulled him out of the Nile.

Moses was taught in all of the schools of Egypt(Pagan, mystery religion), and was a well known prince of Pharaoh, renown for his wisdom and actions. The book of the Acts of the Apostles tells us “Moses was mighty in Word and in deed…”.

And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren. And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand. .( Exodus 2:11-12)

Moses was in the ruling class of the world’s greatest power, loaded with honors, privileges and comforts. But He knew He was a Hebrew, and knew that his brothers were suffering. Moses had to chose who to identify with.

Moses had to make his own personal, moral and spiritual Exodus, before he could lead anyone else to Freedom. He had to come out of Egypt(this world).

By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.(Hebrews 11:24-26)

One day Moses intervened, when an Egyptian was mercilessly hitting a Hebrew slave. Moses killed the Egyptian, and buried him in the sand. Shortly after, he saw two Hebrews fighting. He tried to encourage them to have peace, but they rejected Him;

And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known. Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.( Exodus 2:14-15)

When Messiah comes to earth-

*He will be persecuted by the powers that be, even as a child. Children will be slain in the attempt to ‘get him’.

*Messiah will take refuge in Egypt as a young child.

*Messiah will leave the privilege and glory in order to identify with his people.

*Messiah will come unto the children of Israel, but at first they will rebuff him.

Types of Christ are found all throughout Scripture.

And yet the Jews still missed Him.

It goes to show the absolute necessity of spiritual revelation to understand spiritual truth.
