THE FIRST CHRISTMAS CAROL

Introduction: Have you ever considered, What is the first Christmas Carol?

A carol is a song of joyful praise involving the birth of The Lord
Jesus Christ. The first carol goes all the way back to the night in
which The Lord Jesus Christ was born. No, it was not the Shepherds!
Neither was it the Heavenly host which the shepherds heard. But even
before the angels sang, The Lord Jesus Himself sang. Yes, That Little
Baby in the manger sang the first Christmas Carol. It was not heard
by His parents, nor by any human being, but it was heard by God The
Father, Himself. This very first carol was sung in the heart of that
Tiny Baby. And it is vitally important to consider, because it
contains a vital Truth on which hangs the eternal destiny of every
human and indicates the initiation of the New Testament; i.e., the
Determined Will of The God!

It was not recorded by either Matthew or Luke, the two N. T. writers who
described the events of the birth of Christ. But rather it was
recorded by Paul in His Treatise to The Hebrews in Chapter 10 (Heb.
10:5-10
).

I. The Setting of The Carol (10:5) -The Place and Time of His carol.

Note the phrase: “When He cometh into the World” !

A. The Place - the world - the kóhsmohs - the world system
and culture of humans on Earth. The particular place
in the world (on Earth) was Bethlehem in the province of
Judah, known today as Palestine.

B. The Time - As humans calculate time, it was Tibet
(Dec.-Jan.) 5-4 B.C., but as The God
calculates it: in “The Fullness of Time” (Gal. 4:4,5
cf. Dan. 9:24-26).

II. The Scene of The Carol (v. 5)

When He cometh into the World” (Lk. 2:4 cf. Micah 5:2).

A manger in the inn's stable in Bethlehem, a city of King David of Israel.

III. The Savior - The Christ (v.5)

The person or He of the context (cf. 9:11,14,24,28), Hebrews theme.

IV. The Song (vs. 5- 7) Ps. 40:6-8

But He was a Baby! How could He sing? From His Heart The God's
Eternal Son used The Psalms, Israels hymn book, songs of praise.
He quoted the portion pertaining to Himself.

The Reasons why He 'Arrived' (APT). The Greek verb used in this quote
was not e[rcomai (erxomai) 'I come' but h{kw (haykō)
I arrive.

1. The God wanted no more offerings or sacrifices for sins
(Is. 1:4-6;11-15).

2. To fully fulfil The Law (Mt. 5:17).

3. To do the determined will of The God (Heb. 10:7,9).

4. To give His Son a body to offer for sin; i. e., a perfect sinless
sacrifice for Sin (Heb. 10:5).

5. To establish The New Covenant, Testament, and/or
(Determined) Will of God (Heb. 10:9).

V. The Sin (vs. 6, 8) The Purpose for His coming!

Because of the disobedience, iniquity, transgression, lawlessness of
The Gods Covenant People (cf. Isa. 1:4,11,20) and
to fulfill The Law.

VI. The Sacrifice (vs. 5,10) The Price that He must pay!

A. His body was made Sin (2 Cor. 5:21).

B. His blood was shed and applied to the Mercyseat in Heaven
(10:4 cf. 9:11-14 cf. Lev. 15:16,33,34).

C. He agonized in death - enduring the eternal fiery wrath of God.
Note
Rev. 1:15: ... and the feet of His, similar ones
to fine brass, [intensive perfect passive substantive participle]
&ones-having-been-burned
as by-means-of-a smelting-furnace.

VII. The Surrender (v. 7): The Presentation of His Body!

I arrive to do Thy will, O God.” It is only through one's body
that The God's determined will is performed! At His birth He
surrendered Himself to The God's will. He presented His body to
become the perfect sacrifice! Now if we recognize this: we exchanged
masters from Sin and Satan and rendered ourselves to be dead to sin
and alive to The God and righteousness (Rom. 6:6-16, we are beseeched
to present our bodies to Him (Rom. 12: 1,2).

Will you surrender all to him now and present your body to Him?
and become a living sacrifice and His loving bondslave forevermore?<p>

CONCLUSION:

The Lord Jesus Christ sang the first Christmas Carol. He presented
His body to perform the Determined Will of The God. He was born to
die. So too, we must die, die: to self, to sin, and to the world; and
exchange masters, from Sin and Satan to The Lord Jesus Christ and
Righteousness, and be born again to live now and forever to perform
The Determined Will of The God.

The best time you can ever experience is when you repent, permanently
commit your persistent trust to The Lord Jesus Christ, exchange
Masters, and present your body to perform His will? The choice is
yours! Who will be your Master, Sin and Satan? or The Lord Jesus
Christ and
righteousness? What will you do with Him Who
was born to die, in order for you to be able
to live forever?
