What is the point about consistency ?

The world does contain consistency: people consistently shout the loudest when their own oxen are being gored.

Why do you use demeaning language.

She still is in God’s family.

Why do you use demeaning language.

I don't think I'd call the word I used demeaning.

Do you think it's odd that as a 20 year old Jew, she found the reduction of the hem length of the religious garb of Catholic nuns to be personally traumatic?

Also, she goes out of her way to say We and Our over and over. It's just her, as far as I can tell.

I find it inexplicable that you object to Mother Miriam's use of the words "we" and "our," when she is talking about, not herself as an individual, but her religious congregation which is now in formation.

CWR: What is the mission or charism of the Daughters of Mary, Mother of Israel’s Hope (Name of a religious congregation, therefore plural)

Mother Miriam: Our purpose is to help restore God’s design for the family. We want to...

This is the usual way to distinguish between a solo actor, and an institution, even from its beginnings. Heck, even the editor of a humble parish newsletter can use the editorial "we"!

I will also note that she said she felt "deep and immediate loss" (not drama-queen "traumatized") when the Catholic nuns abandoned their traditional garb. I don't find this weird. Lots of people feel an investment in religious traditions, even when they are not their own.

For instance, I found it sad and disappointing to learn that Conservative Judaism has placed openly lesbian rabbis in leadership positions. I am not a Conservative Jew, but I very much liked the idea of Jews being faithful to the Torah.

There is no institution. It's just her.

And she has a fetish for the clothes, which seems weird.

Fetish?

Really?

It's like a Marine's Dress Blues. It's symbolic of a commitment ---Uncommon Valor ---- Esprit de Corps --- not a personal fashion statement.

I guess you missed that the "Daughters of Mary, Mother of Israel’s Hope" (www.motherofisraelshope.org), is a new religious congregation currently headquartered in the Diocese of Tulsa, Oklahoma, under the leadership of Bishop Edward Slattery.

First Sunday at the Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa

It's not just "her."

Fetish? Really?

My dream has long been to return the hemline of the religious habit to the floor

I feel like a hanger for the habit.

I’d sleep in it if I could.

Yeah. Fetish. She's hung up on it.

I've known plenty of Marines. They all thought the dress uniform was uncomfortable. None of them wished they could sleep in it.

The other, and more significant, consistency in the world is antisemitism. The Jewish people have been hated by the adversary and those under the influence, throughout their generations.

First, she's correct because she's taking about her institute (the Daughters), now in its incipient stages--- not about herself, the former Rosalind Moss.

Second, you sure are majoring in the minors, coming back to this stuff over and over again. OCD much?

Third, religious habits --- like the Marine Dress Blues, but *much* *moreso* --- have a profound sign-value. Don't criticize what you can't understand.

Fourth, don't speak ill of a noble lady.

Tagline, as Gimli said to Eomer:

Posting these kinds of "spotlight on the convert" articles here on FR is an obnoxious and inflammatory practice. These article invariably feature some pathetic soul who has exhausted themselves in their own religion and then fled to another practice in order to work out their issues. This lady did it twice. For someone who had no further use for Judaism, her use of the word Israel in her organization is particularly grating and in my opinion is borderline anti-semitic. Her brother does something similar with an organization with Hebrew in the title. Maybe it's the family business.

Please feel free to ask me to defend anything I have said. If you challenge me on something I have said, I will defend it as best I can. It doesn't make much sense for you to post to me and then complain when I answer you. I don't know what OCD has to do with it. If you don't want an answer from me you are free not to post to me.

Please don't tell me what to criticize and don't tell me what I do and don't understand.
