Under the New Covenant of Christ Jesus, sealed with His Perfect Blood, it is God Who is in you, both to will and do of His good pleasure. God raises up His newborns in the Way that they should go. By His Spirit we may proclaim, Abba, Father. His Spirit does the parenting, the teaching, the disciplining, the chastising. Our growth is to His Glory, for we have not done it, He has! We do not strive to obtain Salvation. We receive it because of His Grace, His Glory, in a moment. THEN, being Justified, we begin the journey of sanctification, being raised up in the Way that we should go.
And here's a surprise for you: EVEN in catholic airs can a newborn get raised up, but the confusion of trying to follow two spirits will have catastrophic results, yet that one is still IN GOD's Family by the Promise of God that whosoever believes on Whom He sent shall be saved. The spirit guiding the catholic church is not The Holy Spirit. If it were there would not be such a long list of contradictions to what The Bible teaches. And catholics would not be persuaded to utter the silly accusation of 'sola scriptura', which is nonsense because the Bible itself declares reward to ANY who will spend time in the passages of God's Word. How? Because the author is always coming through in His Word. So there is no sola and no 'self and self alone. Those in Jesus's family ALWAYS have a companion.
The Bema seat of Christ takes place in heaven. There will be no soul there except by Jesus Christ, for He is the way, the only Way.

BUT, if you want to strive, just bow your head and say Thank You, Lord, that you are in this moment my Deliverer, my Savior, my Only Hope. Thank you for your life, your death for me, and your resurrection to Prove Your Promise to be my Savior now and for ever more. You do that and we have God’s guarantee that He will perform. THEN you can get to work striving to follow His Life within you never to be separated from you.
