Archbishop Nienstedt, Auxiliary Bishop Resign

Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Archbishop John Nienstedt as Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis and has appointed Archbishop Bernard Hebda, Newark’s coadjutor archbishop, as apostolic administrator.

Archbishop Nienstedt’s resignation comes less than two weeks after a prosecutor has filed criminal charges against the archdiocese for failing to report sex-abuse charges against a priest.

The Pontiff also accepted the resignation of Bishop Lee Piché, one of Archbishop Nienstedt’s auxiliary bishops.

“In order to give the Archdiocese a new beginning amidst the many challenges we face, I have submitted my resignation as Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis to our Holy Father, Pope Francis, and I have just received word that he has accepted it,” Archbishop Nienstedt said in a June 15 statement. “The Catholic Church is not our Church, but Christ’s Church, and we are merely stewards for a time. My leadership has unfortunately drawn attention away from the good works of His Church and those who perform them. Thus, my decision to step down.”

“I leave with a clear conscience knowing that my team and I have put in place solid protocols to ensure the protection of minors and vulnerable adults,” he added.

Bishop Piché said in a separate statement that “the people of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis need healing and hope. I was getting in the way of that, and so I had to resign. I submitted my resignation willingly, after consultation with others in and outside the archdiocese.”

They weren’t even the problem. The abuse cases in question happened decades ago. Nienstedt became archbishop only in 2008. Oh, well. Maybe someone new can restore the diocese.

Nienstedt was conservative and tried to clean things up. Harry Flynn, his predecessor, was one of the most liberal bishops in the US and was very gay-friendly, so the diocese was a real swamp. The left-over Flynn crowd in the chancery offices had it in for Nienstedt from the very start, and worked hard to tie him to things that had happened long before or were policies that were in operation when he arrived.

Yep. His efforts were largely doomed from the beginning.

Nienstedt was smeared from the get-go and I don’t blame him one bit for wanting out. Cafeteria catholics are happy today.

liberals in the Twin cities-
(actually match Sodom and Gohmorrah)

HAD homsexual and Lesbian “Masses!”-

Where they went forward to the Tabernacle and “embraced and kissed-

This was done at the Cathedral in St. Paul- with Harry Flynn’s- blessing- Nienstadt got rid of this- but
inherited DOZENS!! of apostate priests !- and liberal
Demonrat Satanists everywhere- The ELCA up here is even worse!- openly looking for Homosexuals and lesbians to
lead congregations- (obviously to hell)

I believe (at least in the Catholic Church) - they
NOW KNOW who the Homsexual deviants are-& upper mangagement
(the conference of Bishops and the House of Cardinals)

Are protecting these evil men — and women- and for what
ever reason- they are not excommunicating them, or even taking their right to do sacrements

Apparently one who would resign when and if he’s done nothing to warrant it. Or is standing for Christ merely figurative with him?
