Iraqi Christian Militia Trainer Says No One Else Is Helping Christians Fight ISIS in the Region..

Sons of Liberty International, a group headed by Baltimore-native Matthew VanDyke, a renowned Libyan revolutionary and former prisoner of war, has been operating in northern Iraq since December 2014. The organization is training recruits in the Nineveh Plains Protection Unit, a militia made up of a couple thousand Christians.

Matthew VanDyke, the leader of the Sons of Liberty International, a group that focuses on training and equipping Iraqi Christian militia to combat ISIS, recently discussed the lack of help from outside forces in the region.

He told PRI.org that no one else is helping Christians from Iraq, including the U.S. government.

"They've pretty much been abandoned by the international community," he said.

While VanDyke says U.S. State Department officials have expressed approval for what the group is doing in Iraq, a spokesman for the department cast doubt on his claims, reiterating strong warnings against any U.S. citizen traveling to Iraq during the conflict.

"As our Travel Warning for Iraq states, U.S. citizens are warned against all but essential travel to Iraq. The U.S. government does not support private U.S. citizens traveling to Iraq or Syria to fight against ISIS nor do we support any such activities. Any private U.S. citizens/civilians who may have traveled to Iraq or Syria to take part in the activities described are neither in support of nor part of U.S. efforts in the region," said the official, who asked to be unnamed.

If I had the means, I’d have a private wing of P-47s or Corsairs to send over to help them out. Heck, I’d toss in some B-25’s or B-26’s

King Obama not only F----d the free world but he also F----d America. Much of this will never be recovered and only get worst.

Miss Romney in 2012 yet? Some Americans will never learn. Said many time the 2/3 of Americans are the most ignorant fools on earth. They have no idea what is happening to the Country much less the world.

Miss Romney in 2012 yet?

Romney lost because voters who were fed up with Obama stayed home since Romney didn't win them over. He would've won if he hadn't backed off on the Benghazi issue (the source of so much of the gun-running to rebels who became ISIS) and hadn't refused to campaign to the "lower 47%".

Romney lost because Americans could not see the difference between King Obama and him. That is the only real excuse. American were asleep and never woke up to this day. And they are still asleep. Nitpicking why Romney lost is immaterial. The bigger picture is what King Obama destroyed in America his first term.

Are we private citizens allowed to pool our money, purchase and deliver weapons to our allies. I imagine the answer is no, but I wish there was something we, the average American could legally do. Of course their needs may be well beyond only weapons. They probably need actual ‘boots on the ground’. Still, I think about the quick surrender of Iraqi forces last week, so are they willing to defend their land or not? The answer remains unclear.
