I would suspect then, that anyone who thinks they can do enough good works, to work their way into Heaven, is going to be in a boatload of trouble.

So, when Abraham sought to please God through the sacrifice of Isaac, he wasn't showing his complete faith through works????

That's what Catholics teach...you show your faith through good works....the works themselves are meaningless, just ways to show God that we have faith in what He asks us to do.

IF you are a Christian, you can go to the Holy Spirit dwelling within your human spirit.

Oh goodie, do it yourself Biblical interpretation....what could possibly go wrong????

There was no Roman church when this was written...

Sure there was...perhaps wasn't called Roman Catholic at the time, but same church...from the very beginning. You remember, Jesus, the Apostles, go and teach all nations, upon this rock I will build My church, whose sins you shall forgive, whatsoever you bind on Earth....all that Catholic stuff. You were,in fact, RnMomof7, about 9 months before you were even born....same person, just a little bigger.

You did everything right until it came to decision making....then you made a VERY bad one.

Amen... we are saved by the faith of Christ ..

Faith IN Christ...like Abraham when he was about to sacrifice his son and by his WORKS, show real faith in God.....see what works can do????

Would the sacrrifice have saved him....of course not, but the true faith, shown by his works, would have...

Yes, just don't get the cart before the horse. Abraham's faith came first, like Roman's chapter 4 CLEARLY states, then the good works follows. Oops, sorry, I just made a private interpretation of the Bible. How dare I do such a dastardly deed? I should be horsewhipped for my evil deed, 😀😁😂😭 for not having a priest there to answer my unanswered questions. 😱🙀 Actually, YOPIOS is a beautiful thing. I do it all day, everyday, and I do not intend to stop anytime soon. Try it, you'll like it. 😇 I have assurance of salvation. Maybe others have to wait till they die to figure out if they have earned their way into Heaven. Not I, said the fly. Once again, it's a beautiful thing. I know there are works based religions out there, preaching a gospel of good works, and hoping their good works outweigh their bad works, so they can squeak their way into Heaven. I don't buy it. You can believe whatever you like, I can assure you that I will do the same. When Gabriel blows his horn, we will be watching for you. It truly is a beautiful thing. See you at the Pearly Gates. 👻🐍🇵🇭

There is no judgement for those in Christ who are the true believers.

So...umm... do you get a get out of judgement free card or something?

You have to be judged by God to have been, your words, a "true believer". How else are you allowed into heaven if God doesn't judge you as being a "true believer"?????

Jesus Christ has to make the decision to let you in. He judges you.

Revelation 20:13
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

Revelation 22:12
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

Every man... over and over...the Lord says, I'm going to reward them every man... not just your "true believers" but every man by their works.

You can not get into heaven with out doing the will of the Father while here on earth. The biggest lie of the devil is to convince people they don't have to do anything, just believe and do nothing.

That won't happen...If you chose to try to justify yourself before God, Jesus steps out of the picture and lets you have at it...

When you limit yourself to just the Bible, this is the confusion you find yourself in.

The atonement of Jesus Christ is there so people can repent. You will not be perfect in this life, however you have to be on the right path leading to perfection. That's a commandment of Jesus Himself.

If you do what He commands and endure in faith to the end of your life, you've done all that you need to do. The atonement of Jesus Christ makes up for your short fall. Jesus extends forgiveness to you.

That's the true doctrine of God and His Son Jesus Christ.

But what you seem to be saying is, don't even try because you won't be perfect at it the first time.

I am the epitome of laid back ....but I love to point out the obvious to those who apparently can't see it

Rely on the Holy Spirit to personally contact you and lead you to the truth???...Like Mary, He is very busy with trillions of requests and probably doesn't have time to call you personally....that's why Christ established a church to answer your questions....

Galatians 3:3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

BINGO (Catholic phrase)...of course it did, as it does with ALL Catholics....HOWEVER, he was prepared to prove his faith to God through his works....as are Catholics.....we have faith and prove it through our works....the faith saves, the works show the strength of our faith.

So....how many trillion requests can God handle before needing Mary to help with the ‘switchboard’? Are you limiting God? It sure seems like you are.

**Faith comes first. The sign of my Salvation is the works brought forth by my works.**

Did Jesus commend the centurion, and the woman from Canaan, for their faith, before they made their requests,....or after they made their requests?

They both had also made a physical effort to be where they could get his attention before they made their requests.

What happens if we don't have any questions? I had unanswered questions at one time. I went to a priest in North Dakota to get my questions answered. Unfortunately for him, or maybe fortunately for me, he was not able to answer my questions and they remained unanswered. Then those nice guys, you know, the ones in the only true church, answered my questions and they got me into YOPIOS. What a wonderful thing that is. I don't need a priest to tell me what the scriptures say. Those catholic nuns really did a great job of teaching me to read, so now I read the Bible for myself. Ain't life grand? If you reach the Pearly Gates before me, tell St Pete to save me a seat in the front row. See you there. 😀😃😄😂😱😇😎😅🇵🇭🙈😆😆

What Jesus established was not an institution. And I'm gonna post this one time, to you personally, because you are so arrogant and smarmy: The Roman Catholic Church has in History been plagued by nasty behaviors which bely being 'God's Church' and has had Popes who were just living hell to their fellow man.

If that is what you will pin your hopes upon, Jesus may someday look upon you and say, 'I never knew you'. Can there be members of His Church in the RC organization? Of course. I've known one or two Priests whom I would say have the light of the Lord shining from them, and many congregants who are angel in ways that only His Lovce living through them could accomplish. They do not have a haughty air about them such as you are displaying on this thread.

FRiend, we are nearing the 'departure date' when The Church comprised of peoples from many denominations, including some Catholics, will be caught up into the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. THEN, after the seventieth week of Daniel is finished, we will return in His Second Coming when He will set foot upon the Earth and establish His reign for one-thousand years.

We are coming to the end of the Church Age, and that doesn't mean the Roman Catholic Church is about to depart into the clouds, it means His Church of believers saved by His Grace are about to be taken up as the Holy Spirit presence is removed to then deal with the Jews as then separate from The Church which has some Jews in it now.

I have been commanded to 'study to show thyself approved'. I have been doing that for approximately thirty years under His Holy Spirit tutelage. I look forward with eager anticipation to the snatching away which must be close at hand, even at the door, judging by the horrific state of the Planet and the strutting Evil now showing itself upon the Earth daily.

Has the Catholic Church been a body which has served the Lord's purposes in History? Absolutely. Jerome's wonderful Latin translation of the Septuagint and the New Testament Greek has been a 'teacher' which has brought an astonishing number of humans to The Lord. But do not make the haughty mistake to believe the Roman Catholic Church has exclusive power for Salvation. ONLY God's Grace saves as The Blood of Christ is applied to the human spirit and God comes to the cleansed spirit of the boy, girl, man or woman. The attitude you are exhibiting seems to show you have not yet discovered that reality and are depending upon an institutional membership to please God and have it counted for you righteousness.

When Paul wrote that it is God Who is in you, to will and do of His good pleasure' Paul didn't inveigle that to coming through Peter as a Pope or any parish priest. It is a personal one-on-one between you and God, directly. You must be born again, now, by His Spirit, else He will not have a resonance when He has the Angel sound the Trumpet and the Dead in Christ rise first then we who are alive and remain are caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.

Bow your knee and thank Him for being your Savior. Many are called but few are chosen, because of the many who are called, so few will let Him do it.

Pax vobiscum, I hope to see you at the depart.

I will withdraw from the thread. I’ve shared The Gospel and that was my objective, if you leave the post on the thread.
