Altar girls and Holy Communion in the paw and on the hoof are all products of VC II.

No thanks to the introduction of “collegiality” by VC II.

Since the Council, every "liturgical experiment" the heretics have promoted has now become the norm.

Since it is a Saturday Vigil it will be NO. Both priests offer the EF on Sunday as well.

I never quite understood the altar girl concept, and I certainly don’t understand women readers of the epistles....Why???....Female Eucharistic ministers are O.K. I Guess....but again, WHY??

Poor kids...Not only are they brainwashed at a very young age to become priests, they also must be encouraged at the age of puberty to reject the natural attraction for the opposite sex...

You realize, of course, that Catholic Families tend to be larger that protestant families which means that the boys certainly do notice the girls...Of course the CHRISTIAN prohibition of artificial birth control which the protestants rejected in the 20th century and the reluctance of ABORTION could also play a role.....

It makes more sense for a woman to read an epistle than to distribute communion. The Body and Blood of Christ should not be entrusted into the hands of lay people.

Hey, given I’m typically on the other side, you don’t have to say much to convince me that it’s Vatican II fault. ;-)

Yes, silly me. I totally had a moment of delusion when I stated it wasn’t the fault of Vatican II. Vatican II needs to be rescinded. The problem is most of the hierarchy and laity think it’s the best thing that has ever happened to the Church.

Well then that doesn’t make sense at all. They are coming together to fight for a Traditional pre-Vatican II form of worship and they are doing it via a post-Vatican II form of worship. It’s as if I’m witnessing a split personality.

Not exactly. They are coming together to support AbC and by extension, Fr Illo and Fr Driscoll. It is to be a demonstration of support by humble Catholics, not ‘prominent’ Catholics.

I get that. But ultimately, this isn’t about supporting a certain Cardinal or priest. This is about standing up for Traditional Catholic teaching and worship. At least that is how I view it (and how I view just about everything on this forum).

I know you’re right, but I should explain what I mean by catechesis. The people demanding altar girls don’t understand what the liturgy is. They don’t understand how our incarnational Church uses tangible realities to point to things distant and hidden. They therefore don’t demand integrity in the signs placed before them, and they fall prey to the clericalizing of the laity that pope Francis has repeatedly warned about. You are quite right that you can’t oppose altar girls head on. You need to prepare the ground to receive the seed. Once the people have a healthy understanding of sacramentality and the irrationality (and disrespect) of clericalizing the laity, they will spontaneously recognize and question the practice. It is a long term project.

If they really don’t like what Father Illo is doing, it’s not as if Star of the Sea is the only parish in The City. Or The Archdiocese. And The City is not that large, and The Archdiocese isn’t that much larger. It’s not San Bernardino, let’s say. If having little Veruca be an altar server is that big a deal, there must be another one relatively if not absolutely adjacent that would oblige them. (I might gently suggest that that’s not exactly the most serious reason to change parishes, but one tantrum is enough.)

Alternatively, couldn’t they just let the pastor do his thing, and if they don’t like it...offer it up?
