Catholic University Throws 'Rainbow Prom 2015
Truth Revolt ^ | February 14, 2015 | Staff report

Santa Clara University, a Jesuit school in California, has hosted an on-campus "Rainbow Prom" for "people of all genders and sexualities."

“All students are welcome to bring whomever they want to share the night with, but you are encouraged to bring a same-gender date in order to establish a prom environment that caters to LGBTQ students in a way that most proms don’t,” said an event description the Rainbow Prom 2015: Big Queer Party.

According to the university newspaper, the prom was hosted by Gay and Straight People for the Education of Diversity (GASPED).

"We decide with this event what we want to say to the community,” said GASPED coordinator Kristen Grewe. “We focus on queer empowerment, queer history, the queer movement and what it means to be queer on this campus and in the world.”

The prom "has become one of the most popular on-campus events of the year, complete with a DJ, a photo booth and hundreds of students filling Locatelli Activity Center to the brim," the paper said. "The semi-formal attire imitates a high school prom, but there is more to it than the limos and boutonnieres of years past."

This aim stems from the high school students that inspired rainbow proms around the country. After two girls were prohibited from attending their prom together, such events began cropping up as a form of resistance and challenge against such strict gendered restraints.

Fast forward a few years, and Rainbow Prom at Santa Clara has become one of the most popular on-campus events of the year, complete with a DJ, a photo booth and hundreds of students filling Locatelli Activity Center to the brim. The semi-formal attire imitates a high school prom, but there is more to it than the limos and boutonnieres of years past. ...

“I think it’s great that it’s a chance to learn about LGBTQ at our school from their perspective,” said Casey Carstens, a sophomore planning on attending for a second time. “It’s a dance for everyone, which is important, but it’s also a chance to be a better ally.”

This Friday, students will relish the opportunity to open their minds and hearts by hearing the voices and experiences of a diverse group of Broncos in the Santa Clara community. And while the spotlight will be on celebrating the diversity of our LGBTQ students, Grewe assures that all are equally welcome.

“In the end,” Grewe said, “we still want everybody to just come and dance their pants off.”

could the Church at least get these pagan pleasure palaces to cease the false advertising that they’re “Christian” or ‘Catholic” universities?

Indeed. The pandering to the homosexual lobby has been going on for sometime.

I went to a Jesuit university on the East coast back in the late 80s. Even back then they had an LGBT club on campus funded by the university administrators.

Whoa, as a So. Cal refugee to No. Cal. (25 yrs ago) I can tell you that most No. Californian’s do not consider anywhere in the Bay Area, including Santa Clara as part of the North.
We are very conservative here;)

Welcoming all people is one thing. (This is Christian, I believe.)
Approving all conduct is another. (This is not Christian, as anyone who bothers to read the Bible can ascertain.)

Church-sponsored schools, or schools who use church names or identifications, have no business ‘teaching another gospel’ — at least not one directly in opposition to Biblical teachings.

Homosexual students can be, should be welcomed...but NOT told that such conduct is acceptable or approved or in keeping with God’s wishes. Love the sinner, hate the sin...
or at least don’t lie to him that his sins are now blessed with the church’s Imprimatur

or something like that.

Remember when Jesuits were Christian?

Even further back when they were Catholic?

Sending your offspring to a Catholic school is like telling them 50 Shades of Grey is a lost chapter from St. Paul.

Liberalism, the most vile of sins, has managed to do what no other filth has managed... bring down Caholicism.

"Is it less appropriate for gays to imagine Jesus as gay than for African Christians to picture him as black, Asian Christians as Asian?" -"Gays and Grays, the story of the Gay Community at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church" by Donal Godfrey, SJ, p 134."

But Jesus WASN'T black or Asian (e.g., Chinese) or gay. He was Jewish and (we have every reason to think) heterosexual.

The only reasons are (1) if they don't have the grades to make it into a public college and (2) they can afford it (typically $38,000 - $50,000 a year, not counting room-and board for non-locals). The "Catholic" thing has become a sham, bordering on fraud. And the bishops are silent about it.

Yep. Same is true of Georgetown University. They allow a ‘pro-choice table’ at their farmer’s market throughout the year. Shame on them.
