That was NOT LIVE!
SNL used to be about live theater. Sure production values go way up when you can edit, but it aint live! It's just another commercial.

Been doing filmed bits since season one....reference Albert Brooks, Belushi’s Little Chocolate Donuts, Fish Heads and many others.
This film wasn’t awful but it wasn’t great either. I haven’t been able to watch this show since the early nineties, it’s been that bad.

Ps. I am pretty much a lapsed Catholic. But when I do go to mass I ignore the hand shake like the plague (which I could conceivable get from the hand shake)

They used clips to buy time between set and costume changes. Not as a crutch for lazy writing.

The traditional Latin Mass does not have that part. Neither does the Eastern Rite. I've known people who have been away from the Church and Sacraments for decades who were won back by getting teh whole package (and God's Grace, of course).

I was in Catholic school grades 1-10. Back then it was (almost) ALL Latin Mass. I learned and sang Adeste Fidelis and many other songs and hymns in Latin. And of course intoned the “Kyrie eleison” in Greek.

I think one guy that used to be on SNL Garrett Morris sang it once. I think that was the song. It's been a lot of years ago. Seriously the guy had a great voice.
Not on SNL but one man that really surprised me was Alan Keyes singing Oh Holy Night on his show one year. Fantastic voice.

Explain whole package .
You go to a church that has beautiful music, but also a reverent atmosphere among the parishioners before, during and after the Mass, a well said Mass by a priest who is also reverent. A doctrinal, non-liberal sermon that may not be exciting, and not unusually erudite, but is solid and said by a man who strives to live up to it. In essence, the goal is to make the atmosphere match as well as possible what is supposed to be happening, the offering of the Body and Blood of Christ to God, in order that we men might be saved.

If I find a Latin Mass nearby with NO handshaking I will consider going. I currently worship in the church of ‘Hipshot Percussion’ as seen in an old comic strip called Rick O’Shay.

If there's handshaking, there is a violation of the '62 rubrics. The folks who seek out this Mass don't tend to put up with that.
New York is a very mixed bag, for tradirional Latin Masses (also knows as the Extraordinary form).
Try this list for finding a traditional Mass near you

I stopped going to Mass entirely before I found the TLM almost two years ago. The NO always left me feeling empty, and I never quite understood why.
