I can see that you received an A+. I did as well. So sorely needed now.

I have read that the most effective thing is stories— not statistics— in persuading people to be chaste. It works to say, “Well, you know what happened to Aunt Sadie...”. In our family, my son’s best friend was born to an unwed teenage mom. My daughter and I have talked about how, as a Christian, she gave life to her son, and we are all better off for it, because we have had the gift of his friendship. However, the ideal way is to bring life into the world with the full support of two responsible parents. So, she should keep her pants up until she is married, and most prepared to share the joy of children.

I think Christians forget that humility is part of the deal— so if it’s embarrassing to be caught sinning, oh well.

We have Jamie, our hairdresser, as our bad example. She's a very sweet person and can really cut hair, but having two children without marrying either father has not proved to be a wise life plan.

When we talk with the teens about how sex outside marriage is wrong and stupid, stupid and wrong, we can add, "You see how it's worked out for Jamie ...," and mention the latest catastrophe.

This means that: of every 100 women whose partners use condoms, 2 to 15 will become pregnant within the first year of use. So basically, the failure rate does not refer to how many times you have sex, it correlates the number of people (100) who use that method over the course of one year.

Ouch.

I can't tell you how many times people tell me if women had better access to birth control there would be less abortions.

What is new in this time and place as compared with the ‘50s, is that shame of being a virgin is more than as the shame of being known to have had sex. Even then a boy who was a virgin was thought to be a bit odd, a Holy Joe.” Girls got away with it because they could get pregnant. But underlying the shame was also a sense of guilt. If a person lacks of a sense of sin, and morals are based only on convention, then shame is more easily overcome.

No church in the Bible?

What about James, where he said “If you are sick, call the elders of the church and have them anoint you with oil”?

Where ever you see “church” substitute “believers” Church was inserted and distorts the Greek badly. The phrase of wich you speak referred to the older believers who were in the entire believer community. There was absolutely no building— pulpit or central authority other than God and Christ. Look it up— Im not making this up!!.Ekklesia!!! Means the “called out” in Christ.-— BELIEVERS. This “Church” thing was to gain control over the masses.
