The cardinal was a leading critic of the mid-term report
Cardinal Wilfrid Napier of Durban, South Africa, has been added to the organising committee for next years family synod.
The appointment is seen as significant because Cardinal Napier was critical of the mid-term report in last months synod and is regarded as an influential voice in favour of tradition.
Otherwise the committee remains the same, including the theologian Archbishop Bruno Forte of Chieti Vasto, who is seen as responsible for the most contentious aspects of the mid-term report.
Other members of the committee are Cardinal Luis Tagle, Cardinal Peter Erdo, Cardinal André Vingt-Trois and Cardinal Damasceno Assis.
The 2015 gathering will continue the work of last months synod and will come up with pastoral guidelines. It will be attended by a much larger group of bishops.
Ping!
Well, that’s some good news!
“Make up call” for the racist crap the German cardinal said about African Bishops.
Too little, too late.
Bergoglio is a lame duck. All the trust was used up a long time ago.
Just letting the clock run out from this point on.
Just one guy and one vote on the committee. And will he feel as free to criticize the committee as he was before, now he is on it?
I hope so.
After Burke’s demotion to Malta, I doubt anyone will critizise the Pope.
Why such negativity? This is a good thing.
Pope Francis I do predict will do what Pope Benedict XVI did, step down, in the next two or three years.
