UMC has always leaned “progressive” but of recent years made a point to let it be known that they are just that....

Heck I saw that growing up as a kid in my hometown....that church seemed to attract the “elites” and those who wanted to label themselves as “church goers” but not the least bit religious...they were an arrogant bunch.

This guys church had a good amount of infighting I understand...before this issue....people leaving and splitting the congregation etc. Always a sign that the enemy is at work when division occurs over standard doctrines people want to change.

Many people attending churches often don’t know what is going on within the rank and file.... and it’s often over major doctrines which conflict with the ways of the world. You have this because non-Christians are a part of the congregations.

We forget Jesus said we’re to “go out” into the World and preach the Gospel....the church is for believers not unbelievers...but that line was crossed long ago and here we are today wondering how this happened.

Same in my hometown as a kid. . .but the powers that were are no more . . .maybe a few remnants left holding it together and running the show.

I don’t know how that church is today in my hometown....but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s altogether in other hands or as you say a few hold outs.

I went to the Baptist Church growing up....and never regretted that in all my travels and having to find other churches to worship in. That gave me a strong enough foundation to build from after I was saved as an adult.........and God did use those early Sunday school classes later on in my life as a Christian. I remembered that which mattered.

>>The official stance of the UMC is pro-life.

Yes, it is. But, the unofficial stance of a majority of clergy is pro-abortion.

I sat there through two Annual Conferences watching the debate over a resolution to merely encourage an ultrasound prior to an abortion, and only if asked for advice.

The theatrics of the female clergy and quite a few male clergy (especially the ones with the rainbow pins who were showing solidarity with their Progressive Sisters) was just astounding.

The UMC is a zombie.
