>>The Preterists of which I'm aware are "Re-formed," Calvinist, Covenant Theology types, often Presbyterian.<<
Scott Hahn is preterist.

I never read the books. I am Catholic, didn't feel the need. I did not know that however. The "he" I was defending was Monsignor Pope.
Just throwing that in there for any late arrivals to the thread.

From what Im learning Catholicism is preterist.Read the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Preterism is not there, unless you redefine Preterism to mean something else.

Something else? Something else from what? Preterism is the belief that all prophesy other than the final return of Christ was fulfilled in 70AD. Of course there is hyper preterist which even claims Christ returned in 70AD and we are in the thousand year reign. Catholicism is preterist.

Catholicism is preterist.you make my point by your redefinition of Preterism, for which you supply no link. Can you prove Catholicism is Preterist from the Catholic Church ? No, you cannot. You still have not identified the denomination(s), sects, or other movements you represent so you might just as well say Protestantism is Preterist.

No problem. I remember when they came out the debate raged as to whether the kids at the Parish should read them. I was on the no side.

I read them since my daughter wanted to read them as a member of the Alliance Church. A lot of non-Catholic stuff in them.

I only gave my daughter the first book and threw away the rest if that tells you anything about what I thought about them. LOL!

LOL! I think a spiritually mature and educated Catholic could read them, but like you said. You tossed them. The first movie I saw, I think. Mostly because I like that Kirk Cameron kid. I found the movie as fantasy to be fine. I would not have let kids watch it. I can't see this upcoming one to be very spiritual. We never go to the movies. If it lands on satellite some winter afternoon, who knows?
For the record I never read the DeVinci Code either. Although I generally enjoy a good conspiracy.

How has CynicalBear redefined Preterism, his statement on Preterism is a accurate definition of Preterism? What is your definition of Preterism?

3. Suffering and Sedition - Before Christs second coming, the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers As a Protestant, I was pleased to see the above statement. In the 1940's Chinese Christians expected the rapture, but instead were confronted with Communist persecution. Many stumbled in their faith.
I once asked my pastor if he would teach about persecution. He responded that, 'It wouldn't be a big draw'.
There are so few prepared for the persecution coming to us in this country.

For the record I never read the DeVinci Code either. Although I generally enjoy a good conspiracy. I used to be very active with the Adult Ed. in our parish. The DRE asked me to do a presentation on it. I read it and highlited all the mistakes. I only had an hour to do the presentation and had over 3 hours worth of material to pick from.
Both authors suffer from an inability to develop their characters beyond a superficial two dimensional-ism or weave an intricate story.

Wow! Three hours? I think it's very good I decided it was not going to be a good thing to watch. Generally I like to be open minded to things, because I used to be involved with Religious Ed for the kids and Youth Ministry.
I am not telling you anything, but you do have to head off cultural trends. I remember the whole Purpose Driven Life, kerfuffle. I quit Adult Ed, because of the Dominican Femi Nazi who was running it. I have been gone from that Parish some 12 years now. They finally got rid of her about 6 years ago.
