Scripture is serious and very clear. Catholics just don’t like it.

You should be able to make a case for a visible denomination.

Fortunately you and your religion don't get to make up the rules...The churches in the scriptures didn't have names...They were simply named, church...

As the churches grew and branched out or where there were doctrinal differences, the churches split and gave themselves names so people could identify the different churches...

If Corinth had divided into a hundred churches because of their size, each church would have developed its own name for identity and location just as your religion has...

There are building where the church meets...People call these churches but the real church is the people who attend the church building...It's no different with your religion...There are Catholic buildings all over the place where the church meets, however small the percentage of Christians there may be...

I have posted clear scripture that no one apostle had any more authority than another and there is plenty of scripture to back up what I say about the churches...

Is the church you attend simply named "church" or is it denoted with accompanying nouns and/or adjectives ?

  1. Notice that Peter spoke this woman and her husband to death. Can you identify another Apostle who exercised this awesome leadership ? Who does it remind us of ?
  2. look up the quoted text of Acts 5:11 "all the church" in the Greek and you will see partial origins of the term "Catholic." See also Acts 9:31 [ekklesia….Kata..Holos..the] = the Catholic Church. kata holos is also found in Luke 4:14; Luke 23:5; Acts 9:42; Acts 10:37. for more complete constructs that led to the word name Catholic. [Middle English catholik, universally accepted, from Old French catholique, from Latin catholicus, universal, from Greek katholikos, from katholou, in general : kat-, kata-, down, along, according to; see cata- + holou (from neuter genitive of holos, whole; see sol- in Indo-European roots).]

It reminds us of Paul...People were healed by Paul and the other Apostles...

Kata Holos equals the Catholic religion???

Act 5:11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

Holos means ALL... 'All' the church' means Catholic religion???

Only in your dreams...

kata holos is also found in Luke 4:14; Luke 23:5; Acts 9:42; Acts 10:37. for more complete constructs that led to the word name Catholic.

Kato Halos wasn't even found in Acts 5:11...Only holos (all) was found...

Luk 4:14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

So here we find kata...It means 'through'...and hola...Again it means all... Through all (the region) equals the Catholic religion??? Please tell me you are not that gullible...

I looked around a little bit researching these words/translations and there is not a single place where the Greek words for the English 'through all' even remotely means universal or Catholic...It take some real Linguistic gymnastics for your religion to relate those words in any way to the Catholic Church...

Take the Middle English word catholik for example...Someone at the time decided it means universal...Or, universal means catholik...And then decided somehow that universal means the Catholic Church...Who do you suppose made that creation???

And katholikos comes from katholou...Katholikos isn't in any bible and neither is Katholou...And I don't think Katholou is a real Greek word since it is two separate Greek words combined...And it still doesn't mean universal or Catholic...

The two words separately mean 'about' and 'whole'...After your religion combined them, the best definition they could come up with is 'on the whole'...And that got turned into Catholic Church... Naw...

There's no doubt in my mind that at some point in time your religion decided it needed to connect its name, Catholic, to the scriptures for some validity...And it just wasn't possible...So they stretched the meaning of of some of the words beyond recognition to dupe the masses...

Apparently you missed my point. The Apostle Peter's word brought death to two disciples. I assumed you would understand the Biblical references and implications and we could explore them.

Kata Holos equals the Catholic religion???

Kato Halos wasn't even found in Acts 5:11...Only holos (all) was found...

Yes, I pointed that out; 5:11 was only a partial reference.

Kata holos speaks to the origin of the word Catholic. Do you remember we were discussing the names of churches ? The word catholic (with lowercase c; derived via Late Latin catholicus, from the Greek adjective καθολικός (katholikos), meaning "universal"[1][2]) comes from the Greek phrase καθόλου (katholou), meaning "on the whole", "according to the whole" or "in general", and is a combination of the Greek words κατά meaning "about" and ὅλος meaning "whole".[3][4]

The earliest recorded evidence of the use of the term "Catholic Church" is the Letter to the Smyrnaeans that Ignatius of Antioch wrote in about 107 to Christians in Smyrna. Exhorting Christians to remain closely united with their bishop, he wrote: "Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church."[11][12][13]

Of the meaning for Ignatius of this phrase J.H. Srawley wrote:

This is the earliest occurrence in Christian literature of the phrase 'the Catholic Church' (ἡ καθολικὴ ἐκκλησία). The original sense of the word is 'universal'. Thus Justin Martyr (Dial. 82) speaks of the 'universal or general resurrection', using the words ἡ καθολικὴ ἀνάστασις. Similarly here the Church universal is contrasted with the particular Church of Smyrna. Ignatius means by the Catholic Church 'the aggregate of all the Christian congregations' (Swete, Apostles Creed, p. 76). So too the letter of the Church of Smyrna is addressed to all the congregations of the Holy Catholic Church in every place. And this primitive sense of 'universal' the word has never lost, although in the latter part of the second century it began to receive the secondary sense of 'orthodox' as opposed to 'heretical'. Thus it is used in an early Canon of Scripture, the Muratorian fragment (circa 170 A.D.), which refers to certain heretical writings as 'not received in the Catholic Church'. So too Cyril of Jerusalem, in the fourth century, says that the Church is called Catholic not only 'because it is spread throughout the world', but also 'because it teaches completely and without defect all the doctrines which ought to come to the knowledge of men'. This secondary sense arose out of the original meaning because Catholics claimed to teach the whole truth, and to represent the whole Church, while heresy arose out of the exaggeration of some one truth and was essentially partial and local.[14][15]
