Staunchly Catholic Malta has legalized same-sex civil unions and has given gay couples the right to adopt children. The vote comes nearly three years after the Mediterranean island nation legalized divorce

The Maltese parliament legalized same-sex unions and gay adoption on Monday in a 37-0 vote, signaling a major change in social policy for a conservative country where Catholicism is the state religion.

"Malta is now more liberal and more European, and it has given equality to all its people," Labour Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said.

The opposition Nationalist Party abstained from the vote, saying that although it supports civil unions, it has doubts about adoption rights for gay couples.

A crowd of hundreds of people, gathered outside parliament in the capital Valletta, cheered the passage of the law.

Jesus wept.

I never thought I’d see or hear half the things that I have in just the past few years.

God is not going to allow this much longer.

“The vote comes nearly three years after the Mediterranean island nation legalized divorce.”

All your proof right there, that it all started with legalized divorce and quickly cascaded to Gay Marriage.

I’m going to guess and say that if this were put to a direct vote by the people there, the result might have been the same as when it has been put to a direct vote in other places— with the people voting it down (and then being over-ruled by politicians and judges). It’s the same all over: elections have consequences.

I’m not sure which quote to use, “Bravo” or “Who am I to judge?”

I imagine this was all carefully orchestrated by recent immigrants from other nations in Europe.

I used to tell atheists that even if you don’t believe God is real, you surely won’t be able to deny the devil’s existence what with the evils that are about to multiply. Out of those I’ve said that to, there are still a few holdouts.

Gee, imagine that.

And here we keep being told that if everyone voted like Catholics, this wouldn’t happen.

All these things follow adoption of Vatican II.

"I hear all around me innovators who want to dismantle the Holy Chapel, destroy the universal flame of the Church, throw away her ornaments, give her a remorse of her historical past. Well my dear friend, I have the conviction that the Church of Peter must assume her past or she will dig her own grave."

How about this one, from Malta more directly;

Sad but true. One of the last Eurozone hold-outs(?), but still ahead of some U.S. States.

Malta was the last holdout in the Western sphere. Pretty much lights out for Western Europe now. Putin can roll in any time.

And as far as I can see Francis’ Good Friday meditation for the Way of the Cross doesn’t mention grave sins like gay marriage/civil unions/homosexuality or abortion.

But it does mention unemployment!!
