Its the same thing my friend. Catholics think that when a Protestant walks down the isle and accepts Christ as savior its easy believism. When some guy calls a Catholic priest to give last rights its lauded. Give me a break. The duplicitous views of Catholics is nauseating.
The Catholic practice is completely scriptural; James 5:14 Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;
How about we Christians (Catholics and Protestants) back up into our own corners, quit playing ‘Sunnis and Shia’, and remember who the REAL enemy is?
Nice try at obfuscation but it doesnt work. The Protestant churches do that also. That has nothing to do with being saved as was implied in this story.
I can’t believe you believe I believe in easy believism. I believe I don’t.
Freep-mail me to get on or off my pro-life and Catholic List:
Please ping me to note-worthy Pro-Life or Catholic threads, or other threads of general interest.
My aunt and uncle were an extremely anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic Presbyterian. She failed to find a church when she moved near us and into a Catholic assisted living community run by Irish nuns. When she had a stroke, the priest came to anoint her. She was clearly upset......by the irony I suppose.
When a sincere sinner seeks Our Lord and repents of his past sins and wants to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior they should be encouraged, praised and accepted - no matter if that seeking is imperfect (as it often is). Our Lord chooses to offer all of us His Grace, some accept that Grace fully and at once, others over time and many reject it.
But to mock (as your tone appears to) a solemn moment in a dying man’s journey seem,s wrong - just as others who would mock that solemn “Altar Call” - even an imperfect one, would seem wrong to me.
I have conveyed only the truth to you, it is now up to the Holy Spirit to change your heart. I continue to pray for you.
I would imagine she was upset. I would be too. Reliance on Jesus alone would have been better.
Im shocked narses! We finally agree on something. Now you understand how non Catholics feel when Catholics mock people who respond to an alter call.
I have no doubt that you think you do. So do Mormons, Muslims, Seventh Day Adventists, and many others who have been indoctrinated by cults.
“Nice try at obfuscation...”
Is calling people a liar allowed on the RF now?
So you agree your mocking was wrong?
Sad...
So a lot of people want to get right with God at the end, but not all are able to connect with a Catholic priest, in time, so they miss out???
They sure do. And lookee here.
The guy lives like the devil for his whole life and then has a deathbed conversion and voila, he's in good.
I actually recently heard, in person, a Catholic say how nice it must be for the late converts to Catholicism, the old people who convert on their deathbed, because there's no time in purgatory to rack up.

That's a great lesson we all should learn, NYer. Thanks for sharing it.
And thanks for sharing this very moving story. I am truly shocked that some woefully misguided posters here would use this story as a pitiful excuse to once again bitterly attack the Catholic Church. Pray for them.
It was so sad in this story how "Ralph" had none of his loved ones to visit him as he lay dying -- no family, no friends, nobody. He was completely alone -- except for this priest (representing the Church), who did NOT turn his back on Ralph, and except for Mary, and his guardian angel, and the Good Lord, who also did not turn their backs on Ralph.
Ralph encountered that one single moment in time when his life on this earth completely ended. We do not know exactly when it will be, but every single one of us here has that same kind of solitary moment coming up when our own life here will suddenly end too.
It will not be very long from now for any of us (in the true measurements of time), so it's probably a good idea every once in a while to spend a moment reflecting on that coming last moment, to consider if we really are placing emphasis on the the right things here right now, and were making our best efforts in the correct areas of our life, in order to be optimally prepared for that last moment in our own life, which truly is coming soon for all of us.
Thanks for posting this story NYer. (Going to watch "Threshold of Hope" now.) God bless you.
A reverse altar call. So instead of the guy doing it, he gets to be lazy about it and call the priest and have the PRIEST do the walking to him. He doesn't even have to make any other effort, certainly less than someone walking the aisle themselves.
LOL It would be wise to actually look up the meaning of a word if you dont know what it means rather than expose .well. Its better to look up the meaning of a word.
