Indoctrinating Religious Warriors (GOP who put faith over science embarrassing Charles)
The New York Times ^ | January 3, 2014 | Charles Blow

In 2009, the gap between the share of Republicans and Democrats who believed in evolution was just 10 percentage points, 54 percent and 64 percent, respectively.

Last year, that gap widened to a whopping 24 points because as the percentage of Democrats who believed in evolution inched up to 67 percent, the percentage of Republicans believing so plummeted to 43 percent. Now, more Republicans believe that “humans and other living things have existed in their present form since the beginning of time” than believe in evolution.

This sad news comes via a survey released this week by the Pew Research Center’s Religion & Public Life Project.

In fact, this isn’t only sad; it’s embarrassing.

I don’t personally have a problem with religious faith, even in the extreme, as long as it doesn’t supersede science and it’s not used to impose outdated mores on others.

But some people see our extreme religiosity itself as a form of dysfunction....

This is like Milhouse tagging Bart Simpson.

It is indeed embarrassing.

The depth of ignorance is stupefying, starting with “well, it is ‘just’ a theory” — indicating to one and all total ignorance of what a Scientific Theory is.

It just goes downhill from there.

It is a distraction to have to explain to liberals that many Conservatives understand TToE.

I’m pretty sure that the way the country has gone since 2008 has convinced a lot of Republicans that DemocRATS had to have “evolved” from chimpanzees and apes. How else can you explain it?

A) Charles Darwin was the embarrassing black sheep of his family and (B) he died a devout Methodist.

There is much religion masquerading as science on the Left. A few examples:
- Climate “science” unlike conventional science is “settled”.
- Affirmative Action “works”.
- Head Start and other government preschool programs “work”.
- Feminism denies biological differences to achieve political ends.

There it is again. “some people see our extreme religiosity itself as a form of dysfunction”. What the hell do I care about what “some people” think!

Ask Barack Obaam at the next presser if he believes that God created the Universe. Followup question, if God did NOT create the Universe, did God(s) spring forth from the Big Bang, was God surprised by that “weird thing that happened just now”, or does God “not exist”?

Push back on these ill-framed gotcha questions that ONLY the GOP candidates have to answer during Democrat moderated debates.

Expose the phony “Christian” for the secular/atheist/humanist he actually is.

Who are you going to get to ask those questions? No one accredited to the White House would think of asking anything approaching those questions of this man. A Republican? Sure, but a “black” man? Never.

Yes 23% of republicans falling for the massively funded propaganda camouflaged as science evolution hoax is sad and embarrassing. We should stick to real science like global warming and life originating from crystals traveling from an unknown origin.

Nothing about the President’s speeches, writings, answers, or body movements hints at an understanding of Christian beliefs.

He couldn’t even make the sign of the cross properly. His handlers have lied and said he was raised as a Christian when there is simply no evidence for it (2 muslim fathers, agnostic mother, Unitarian grandparents, no baptism) and by his own words he elevated himself above lifelong Christians saying that he came to Jesus later in life without his parents (it was the former muslim and continued anti-American racist Jeremiah Wright who “brought him to Jesus”).

He has covered crosses, removed references to God in American historical documents and quoted speeches, he has patted himself on the back singing the praises of Islam, muslims, and the “holy” koran. It is the text of a deceiver if you are a Christian. Nothing “holy” about it.

Outstanding observations Fool in Paradise. All true and all ignored by the MSM. But Christians notice these things. Obama is no Christian and never has been.

You left out the liberal belief that people are “born gay.” As has been pointed out by various people, the idea that people are born gay makes no sense from an evolutionary perspective, which is all about survival of the fittest, how a species adapts and changes in order to perpetuate itself. The idea that something happened that affected the person’s psychosexual development (which is what the mental health establishment used to believe) makes a lot more sense from an evolutionary perspective.
