If Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin don’t like the pope, they won’t care much for Jesus (He's serious)
The Washington Post's On Faith ^ | November 28, 2013 | Reza Aslan

Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin are starting to sour on the new pope.

In response to Pope Francis’ first Apostolic Exhortation, in which the pontiff denounced “trickle-down theories which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the world,” these two paragons of the far right – both of whom regularly invoke the teachings of Jesus to bolster their own political views – have suddenly turned their backs on the man whose actual job description is to speak for Jesus.

Sarah Palin complained that Pope Francis sounded “kind of liberal” in his statements decrying the growing global income equality between the rich and the poor (she has since apologized).

Rush Limbaugh went one step further. “This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the pope,” he harrumphed into his giant microphone.

Limbaugh, in his trademarked conspiratorial style, speculated that the pope’s tirade against “widespread corruption and self-serving tax evasion” must have been forced upon him by somebody else. “Somebody has either written this for [the pope] or gotten to him,” he said.

Limbaugh is right. Somebody did get to Pope Francis. It was Jesus....

First the liberals in the news media want to characterize Pope Francis as ‘on their side’, that is liberal; and second Pope Francis will quickly learn that he has to be more careful with how the press will manipulate his words.

The Catholic church has a history of putting out various messages, trying to appeal to every slant. When one message gets a complaint, they are quick to say that wasn't the Pope's actual words. Or, it's a translation problem. Hogwash.

You keep posting this poppycock on numerous threads. As I said on the other thread.....

You keep posting this and telling everyone that the "interpretation" from a known conservative site, Breitbart, is incorrect and leftist. However, you want us to believe that the translation from your site, Ignatius Insight, run by a bunch of known leftists , the Jesuits, is correct and conservative.

The Jesuits embrace Obama and every other leftist/socialist principle and you want us, the conservatives on FR, to ignore the truth and believe them? I don't think so!

Jesus didn't espouse any position on government confiscation of wealth and redistribution. And he would surely not have approved of Benedict's arrogant preaching on the subject. “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

If Benedict wants to sell of the Vatican's $2.9 billion is securities, or turn the Sistine Chapel into a homeless shelter he is free to do so. Otherwise he should shut up and stop telling us what he won't do.

I know of no place in the world where “survival of the fittest” and “unbridled capitalism” hold sway, nor do I know of any economic system free of self-serving and corruption. The Pope speaks of sin and God’s will, not specific political systems or socioeconomic principles. The moslem sociologist lacks the contextual awareness to grasp the point of it all, but Rush was needlessly upset.

“whose actual job description is to speak for Jesus.”

We all serve Jesus, but we do NOT speak for Him, the Holy Spirit does.

I confess to no man, only to my Savior. I am a sinner, just as Paul was. Also, as those whom Jesus touched while here on earth.

Jesus did not bow the leaders. Nor do I.

Rectal Azzman was introduced to me by a friend. Apparently he’s real keen on disproving Biblical history.

Thing is, his methodology isn’t so much in error as it is very concsiously contrived.

He is a blasphemer, a self Idolater and all around tool....well, jacks.

I forget what it was that ticked me off but, I watched some interview of him with a friend.

1st thought: Fag

2nd thought deciever.

Now, I forget the five points this intellectual narcissist was promulgating but, after my friend asked me thoughts I asked if they would be open to me refuting his so”special” brand of bullshit.

I was surprised when she said yes.

In 10 minutes I proved he was a fraud who is out to indermine Christianity.

She wanted to know why my view is more valid than this FK tard with pedigree on paper.

I told her I had God as my witness, no need to disprove his presence at all point of time and tier are just too many contemporary writers over the last 2,000 years to bolster the evidence of truth.

No one should give this Moslem his due or celebrate his contrivances.

He is a deceiver.

The Wall Street GOP is happy if the rich get richer and the poor have the Gospel preached to them.

Nice quote. Why don't you give attribution.

The Pope would like an economic system that would have fewer poor.

Name one. And fewer than whom.

How odd, that the mystical Wall Street GOP so richly supports liberal politicians of a socialistic bent.

An economic system that encourages conversion of nature’s store of material resources into useful goods and services through private enterprise, thereby creating real wealth and providing remunerative employment for those willing and able to work, would be a good thing.

Martin Luther was a Catholic who left the Catholic Church

He reluctantly left the Catholic Church. He didn't want to. He found where the Catholic Church strayed by Biblical testimony.

It will remain to be seen whether or not the original English translation is actually the true interpretation of Pope Francis’s words.

I'm not big on this pope. Unnecessary double-speak to cover his South American "Liberation Theology" indoctrination and leanings.

The LSM reporting of his words is probably more accurate of the pope's intentions than the views of those that are hoping that it really is possible "lost in translation" errors.

To whit, the lack of strong leadership from the Vatican on challenging and correcting the "erroneous" stories of the pope's statements.

JMO, YMMV

Never heard of Reza Aslan, but based upon this piece it’s no surprise he would write for the Wash. Compost.

Maybe Reza can refer to the scriptural basis for his contention that the Pope was quoting Jesus on the need to have Marxist government action to help the poor. All this while I thought the scriptures taught that we have an individual responsibility to do this, not delegate it to socialist government politicians and bureaucrats.

The liberals are quite amusing concerning statements from the Pope or any Catholic bishop. If the Pope says something they disagree with the typical leftist response if “well oh yeah well they’re all a bunch of child molesters” but then if the Pope or bishop says something they agree with then they say its his actual job to “speak for Jesus”.
