Foreign Astronauts Take Orthodox Priest's Blessing and Confess Before the Flight in Baikonur

Moscow, November 21, Interfax - Rector of St. George Church in Baikonur Archpriest Sergy Bychkov said that astronauts, including foreigners, feel reverence for Orthodoxy.

"Everyone is awesome. Catholics try to come to the church and confess before the flight as in any case a person understands that he won't be able to make an emergency stop in the places where he goes to," the priest told BBC Russian Service.

According to him, every of them tries to take a blessing, to kiss the cross and asks to be blessed with the holy water.

Foreigners confess in Russian, "even if it's not perfect," Father Sergy said.

"They can also confess in English. I can't say that I speak very well, but I understand the language and can communicate," he added.

It has become a tradition in Baikonur to bless carrier rockets and astronauts before the flight.

So the formerly Godless Soviet Union is becoming the foremost defender of Christianity in the world.

Meanwhile the great democratic republic founded "under God" is racing to stamp out Christianity and any references to God.

Someone, please explain to me what is going on.

"The Corruption of the Best is the worst".

Culturally, just look at what has happened to Quebec in the last 50 years.

IMO it's a propaganda war. It's not about promoting Christianity, it's about destabilizing the United States via promoting Putin.

In the East there is someone that causes the western liberal's maniacal laughter to stop. Vladimir Putin. He has real world power, which causes the liberal media to fearfully ignore or warp his image. Like a good Christian King he leads a nation to Christ. Deep down in their evil souls they shriek like devils because they know Christ is true God and true power that they cannot defeat. They thought the Bolshevik revolution destroyed Holy Mother Russia. Christ cannot be defeated and his servant Putin has welcomed Christ and His church.

The anti-Christian Obama has allied himself with Al-Qaeda rebels in Syria where 2 Bishops are still held captive, priests and other Christians are martyred. This is the "Hope and Change" he promised. Those who voted for Obama are held responsible as though they pulled the trigger or swung the blade to decapitate. It will go worse for those who are Christian leaders who ignore the martyrs of the East. Why are they not at the White House everyday protesting to spare the Christians and stop the violence?

How's this for a fish story: In the latest episode of Vladimir Putin's ongoing rugged outdoorsman fantasy adventure series, the Russian president, clad in a camouflage jacket and hat, appears to catch a massive pike...Russia's defense minister, who was on the trip, says the fish weighed between 26.4 and 33 pounds, but a Putin spokesman pegs the weight at 46.3 pounds. Russian bloggers are for some reason a tad skeptical. Several have posted images of bigger fish they've caught themselves that have weighed far less. "They must have forgotten to unfreeze the pike," one social network post quipped. Another wrote, "The Kremlin must have weighed the pike the way they count the votes." Come on guys. It's not like Putin would fake a spectacular exploit.

getting God’s blessing sounds like a good thing before blast off. Why not? We are fools to let a small minority of un-beleivers dictate how America should be.

Christianity is coming on strong in Russia. During their communist government years, Christianity was outlawed, clergy were killed or sent to the gulag, churches were desecrated and destroyed. Rrcall, the Russian church was the main supporter in erecting the 52’ statue of Jesus (105’ with base) overlooking the battlefield in Syria and supporting the Syrian Christians being persecuted,

We in the US have turned our backs on Mideast Christians, and throughout the world for that matter.

Wha is going on???
