Excellent find. What an honest perspective from an Orthodox Christian.

The difference doesn’t bother me. It’s the claim they are Christians when plainly so many only mouth the word but don’t practice.

True, but when their church continues to count and treat them as members in life and in death, then it only fosters more of the same. Plus the problem of the church itself being aberrant.

No doubt. The leftists who I dub PAGANS (People Against God And Normalcy) do hate Catholics probably a bit more than Evangelicals. I think it has to do with the history, moral stances, and perception of an old male dominated clergy. Plus the Vatican is a recognized State which gives the PAGANS even more reason to hate every moral stance the Roman Catholic church stands for. Plus they love Muslims and Rome mowed down a lot of Muslims defending the Western world. So yeah they hate Roman Catholics too. Evangelicals...to them we are just Bible thumping (KJV only mind you!) rubes who eat chicken fried food and vote against everything the PAGANs love. Plus we scream the Gospel on every down town corner which is offensive to them.

They love to hate us.

I think the JWs get a lot of attention for such a small group for one reason. They come and knock on the door on Saturday afternoons. Don’t know about them but most of us use that time to spend with family or work on the yard or house.

They tend to shy from my house. I have a very playful and gentle Yellow Lab. She hardly barks at all. She gets in a lather when JWs and Mormons come on the property. Only dog I ever had that loves the mail lady. Everyone else who comes to the door gets a happy tail wagging welcome.

You’d be surprised how many people are “Catholic” over on Democratic Underground, though they feel persecuted by the rabid atheists on there too. Well, there are also freaks from the PCUSA, but they all have the common feature of not knowing anything about anything and not actually being “Christian” in any identifiable way.

I agree in Muslim countries if you are not Muslim your life is at risk. Even though the Qur’an tells their faithful to leave Christians and Jews alone if they are not warring with them, they still kill for no reason other than ‘you are not Muslim.”
In Iran the persecution of small home churches is at an all time high.

...evangelicalism in America was largely synonymous with fundamentalism.

That seems to be a given!

Now you've gone and upset our Mormon brothers...

I wish that ALL 'Christians' would get off their fat butts and actually EVANGILIZE like they do!

If you have cable TV, there won’t be much on to watch.

If there isn’t much on to watch, you will answer your door whenever someone rings.

If you open your door, you will see mormons.

If you talk to mormons, they will trick you into “praying about whether something is true”.

If you rely on your feelings, you may become a mormon.

If you become a mormon, you will have to wear magic underwear!

If you wear magic underwear, people will immediately label you as a cultist.

DON’T be a cultist!
Get DirectTV.

Oh come on give the Roman Catholics some Hollywood street cred. There are quite a few movies that have some shadowy Vatican or Opus Dei character. They get some Hollywood love too:)

their church

You're either a Christian or you are not. Your "church", their "church" means nothing to me.

The left is quite crafty. During the 2012 GOP primaries when Rick Santorum had some steam, MSNBC started calling him an “Evangelical Catholic.” At that point I said his goose was double cooked:)

LOL that’s a hoot. Maybe in Jesse Jackson’s or Jeremiah Wright’s sect.

I think Prots claiming Bubba et wife is akin to Roman Catholics claiming Fancy Nancy and the Kennedy clan.

LOL. I will say the three local Baptist churches knock on doors. I welcome them as brothers and sisters in Christ. Great approach an invitation to their church, genuine smiles and even offered to hold the ladder while I put up lights. They never leave empty handed especially in hot weather.

Interesting article from an Orthodox member about American Evangelicals. I’ll never forget the shocked look on the face of a Catholic priest when I told him that, “Yes, we DID study Augustine in Bible college.”!
