I heard Schaeffer in Portland in ‘78 (?) as he was introducing this series to the NW evangelical community (Portland Civic Auditorium?). Oddly enough, it seemed as though he never answered the question, “How should we then live?” Perhaps I did not listen close enough.
Nevertheless, elsewhere he offered some excellent insight into the unavoidable paradox in which unbelievers live. Before FS, I viewed our side of the “existence of God” debate as a kind encyclopedia sales job (ridiculous arguments of Aquinas, et al). But, FS could turn logical positivists (a common view of materialists) on their heads in a few quick sentences (The God Who is There). For this, I am grateful.
But, definitely, Frankie proves that God can love Jacob and hates Esau.
And yet I have Frankie to thank for strongly influencing my solid pro-life position. One of his books sealed the deal for me. Not sure which but I do know it was his material.
