Arkhangelsk, September 16, - Fleet priest hieromonk Veniamin (Kovtun) attended tests of the underwater atomic submarine Alexander Nevsky.
"Prayer services were held at the rocket deck every day. Sailors asked the Lord that He helps the crew to deal with this complicated task. Everything that depended on people were excellently fulfilled, the crew worked perfectly," press service of the Arkhangelsk Diocese quoted Fr. Veniamin as saying.
The priest baptised an officer at the deck of the submarine.
According to him, many people underestimate the importance of forming Christian world outlook among officers, though it is "a very important way of recovering moral and psycological climate."
"It is very important to back up the crew when they go out to the sea as they deal with tasks of state importance. All actions of the crew are perfectly coordinated during ordinary trips. Here we check all working regimens of the submarine, including extreme ones: at the hundred per cent capacity, in full operation. If you're mistaken for two-three degrees, the boat will rush into the bottom. It's real extreme," the priest said.
Pray it get used to protect Christianity and Christians in the world.
I imagine Basil Poledouris - Hymn To Red October being played in the background.
The link I posted in #3 is better.

Nice to see another fan - I love his work in the 2 Conan the Barbarian movies!
Russia promotes Christian values in the military while our military leadership ban Christianity. That’s a switch. What’s next, they going to defuse a near conflict with a Middle Eastern country without firing a shot? Oh wait...
Anyways, I’m glad they had a Chaplain on the sub giving prayer services.
Isn’t this the sub that had a fire, killing a dock worker a couple of weeks ago?
Prayers and Russian subs definitely belong together.
1950’s Pray for the conversion of Russia
2010’s Pray for the conversion of America
Yeah he was amazing. I loved his Robocop theme.
Now I’m in the mood to watch ‘The Hunt for Red October’ again.
Oh yeah? Well, Putin was a KGB officer, so there! And...and — Exceptionalism! So we need to hang on to our bases in Afghanistan, because we’re against Russian imperialism. USA! USA!
With the Russians praying, embracing Christianity, and depising gays I don’t think it eould be wise to engage them in battle now that we have become the New Sodom & Gommorah of the world and one of the most despised nations in the world.
Those evil Commies are pretending to be Russian again. Sneaky, huh?
In the mean time our military is outlawing Christianity and publishing guidelines for celebrating, "Let's all be perverts" month.
Never in my life could I have dreamed that one day the Russian Government would allow its fleet to be blessed while the US Government does everything it can to impede Christianity.
Это должен быть в иметителном падеже: "вставай русский народ!"
Please translate that to English.
Me too. :-)
Staggering. Not exactly unexpected, but staggering nonetheless.
The submarine here is named "Alexander Nevky" after the Russian prince who fought the Teutonic nights on the frozen lake in the mid 1200s (most of the Germans in their heavy armor fell through the ice and drowned).
Eisenstein's classic film is based on that story.
Please pardon my Russian which stinks.
No problem. Translating to English is a guideline on the Religion Forum.
Just consider what kind of “leadership” we have chosen to lead us in the last 50 years.
Elections have consequences.
Good movie, good sound track.
I think more and more folks are getting it but the ‘50s and ‘60s still exert a powerful hold on many.
