"Historians" seem for the most part to be communists. The so-called "Republicans" in the Spanish Civil War were communists. Ernest Hemingway was also a supporter of the communist "Republicans", and wrote For Whom the Bell Tolls from the point of view.

At least Hemingway engaged in the sincerest form of self-criticism, put a shotgun in his mouth and pulled the trigger, removing himself from the active conversation.
