Skip to comments.Too Many Churches In This Town!

Across the street from us we have a 'First Congregational United Church of Christ'. They have a lesbian pastor, but still sometimes we have some discussions outside on the street. What took the cake, specially for a supposed religious person is when she said 'The problem with this city is that there are too many Churches.'(Her church is drastically losing membership) My jaw dropped, all I could say is 'The problem with this city is that there is not enough churches preaching the gospel!' (This city has the smallest church attendence in the country) What would you say to a pastor like that?
“Her church is drastically losing membership”
Hey, good news arrives in many forms.
your answer was excellent.
if a person had sufficient time to prepare a reply, perhaps this slight embellishment would be helpful:
“preaching the gospel and trying to live in accordance with its teachings”
but your answer was very to the point for her.
I think your response was great! And praise the Lord that her church is losing members. The Holy Spirit is doing HIS job even when people aren’t.
Too many churches like hers; just wings of the dim party with potlucks.
There is nothing you will ever say to her that will lift the scales off her eyes. She is lesbian and she thinks a woman should be a pastor. You said about all you could.
Wow, you missed a great opportunity! You should have said (with complete politeness): if you think there are too many churches in town, why don’t you close yours? I think you should take to her again, but be completely polite and ask her why she thinks there are too many churches. And if she doesn’t want to close her church to alleviate that, isn’t she being intolerant of the people in all those other churches out there?
Wait 12 months and you won’t have to see them anymore after they shut-down.
‘The problem with this city is that there is not enough churches preaching the gospel!’
Excellent response. But, of course, she wouldn’t be able to process that answer since she obviously hasn’t done much Bible study (or, is she has, doesn’t believe it).
Where is this town?
I remember when the UCC church in a small mid-west city had a homosexual pastor back in the late eighties. Once a thriving church, their attendance halved almost immediately. I don’t know how they supported him and his so-called partner thereafter.
In my neighborhood alone there are about 30 churches, ranging from little storefronts to big, ornate, expensive ones. And most of them are either Baptist or Evangelical. Homeless people flock to the big ones on Saturday, because they have very generous free food pantries. One street alone has four big churches on it. And on Sunday mornings, they are really jamming. You can hear that soulful gospel music all over the neighborhood.
“’First Congregational United Church of Christ’. They have a lesbian pastor,”
That is no church....
I would point out that, “where two or three are gathered in His name . . .” and if the leaders of existing churches will not gather in His name, Christians will go elsewhere.
She is not a pastor. She is a sexually confused little girl playing dress up.
There is only one true Church; the Roman Catholic Church. All of the other institutions they call “churches” are in error. When the Second Vatican Council adopted their false “ecumenism”, they set in motion the erroneous belief among many catholics that other religions are just as good. That is a lie. As Pope Francis has said in a very recent homily, “it is not possible to find Jesus outside the Catholic Church”. Perhaps this Pope is beginning to work the Church back to the truth. But in any case, the lady is right (but probably for the wrong reasons), that there are too many “churches” in any town if there is one more, other than the Catholic Church.
Watch, she will become a *civil rights* church and a beacon for all discriminated against people in the area. She will probably apply for federal grants for her *outreach* such as talks to kids in highschool, and *support systems* for poor gay kids and adults who are having a hard time coming out of the closet.
Revered Wright seems to be using a variant of this scheme which is probably how he could afford a million dollar house.
>> As Pope Francis has said in a very recent homily, it is not possible to find Jesus outside the Catholic Church.
Did he say “Roman Catholic Church” or did he say “catholic church”?
When the spirit visits a church it overflows in to the parking lot.
When the devil is preaching the spirit goes else where and rot sets in.
There is nothing she can do to save her church (other than repent and start anew)
You all are welcome to your beliefs until you start burning Protestants again.
“What would you say to a pastor like that?”
Don’t worry, you and your buddy Satan are making fine progress.
And all the RCCPedophile Priests that molested little boys. The RCC has lots to answer for.
“What would you say to a pastor like that?”... Thank You.
Yes. As far as the UCC is concerned, the Holy Spirit got His hat and left years ago. Those who can hear the voice of the Shepherd have been following.
Your answer was perfect, made me smile.
if all the priesta were American, would you say that the U.S had something to answer for??? The men themselves have something to answer for, not the church.......and they weren't pedophiles, they were GAY.
they were predatory gay pedophile priests, and the church covered it up,protected them, and moved them from parish to parish so they could continue thier preying on young boys.Dont tell me that only the RCC has the path to heaven.
I see that the sex crime obsessives here would tell this dykeroo that there are too many Catholic churches in town and in the world.
The Catholic Church is a group of Churches including the Latin Rite Church (Western Church) (Roman Catholic) 1.2 billion members. There are 22 other autonomous particular churches,(Eastern Rite Churches) They include:
Ruthenian Catholic Church
Romanian Catholic Church
Italo-Albanian Catholic Church
Albanian Byzantine Catholic Church
Belarusian Greek Catholic Church
Bulgarian Greek Catholic Church
Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church
Croatian Greek Catholic Church
Greek Byzantine Catholic Church
Hungarian Greek Catholic Church
Macedonian Greek Catholic Church
Russian Catholic Church
Antiochian or West Syrian Tradition
Syriac Catholic Church
Syro-Malankara Catholic Church
Chaldean or East Syrian Tradition
Syro-Malabar Catholic Church
Armenian Catholic Church
Coptic Catholic Church
Ethiopian Catholic Church
All are aligned with Rome and consider the Bishop of Rome as the Seat of Peter and the Representative of Christ on Earth, yet they have their own traditions. They constitute millions of members.
The Catholic Church is working diligently on bringing both the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX)AND many Anglican Churches back into alignment with the Church.
The goal of ALL Churches should be the saving of souls, not the salving of a sinners conscience or the legitimizing of their sin. Without Moral absolutes, there are truly no morals at all.
Francis I SHOULD proclaim that only through the Catholic Church can a person truly come to Christ. He would be remiss in his requirement that he evangelize if he did not.
Are there more churches than bars?
your answer is excellent.
Actually, he simply said “Church”, but the Catholic Church has always (up until Vatican II) taught that there is only one Church, the Catholic Church.
Yes they do. And the modernist bishops, popes and priests that promoted and now support the New Theology that grew out of Vatican II will answer to God for their errors. The homosexual priests were all but recruited by the modernists following the Council. Then, when it became apparent that the homosexual priests were practicing their “art” on little boys, the modernist bishops turned their heads and tried to hide it. And Cardinal Bernadine (RIP), the then head of the USCCB, was on the front line of the cover-upif not directly involved, himself. Still, there is only one true Church, the Roman Catholic Church founded by Jesus Christ.
I would say “Lady...” (there is no such thing as a woman pastor, leave alone a lesbian pastor), “Lady, you mean your gospel, not Christ’s gospel.”
well, the killing went on both sides....
Her members are fleeing to the First Church of Obama, Messiah - they give their members free phones, food stamps and easy disability, you know.
