Russia detains 140 in sweep at Muslim prayer room: reports

(Reuters) - Russian law enforcement officers detained 140 people at a Muslim prayer room in Moscow on Friday as part of a search for Islamist militants, Russian news agencies quoted Federal Security Service (FSB) officials as saying.

FSB and Federal Migration Service officers took the detainees, including more than 30 foreigners, to police stations near the site in southern Moscow, state-run RIA cited the FSB's Moscow branch as saying.

There was no indication of any link to the April 15 attack at the Boston Marathon, in which U.S. authorities believe two ethnic Chechen brothers with roots in Russia's North Caucasus set off bombs that killed three people and wounded 264.

President Vladimir Putin said in a television appearance on Thursday that the Boston bombings justified his tough line against militants in the North Caucasus and that Russia and the United States must step up cooperation against militants.

RIA reported that law enforcement authorities said some people who had been at the prayer room in the past had joined an Islamist insurgency in the North Caucasus.

The Russians have been ruthless in their treatment of Islamic terrorists. On the other hand, we welcome them into the country under false pretences, and give them welfare immediately. As much as I dislike Putin as a leader, at least he is dealing with an aggressive cancer that is inside the body of Russia.

America has been in bed with Sunni extremists (wahabis from Saudi Arabia) for over 3 decades, while Russia is in bed with Shiite extremists (Iranian-backed). At the end of the day, the two former superpowers are in bed with Islamic extremists of all kinds.

“Russian law enforcement officers detained 140 people at a Muslim prayer room....”

.
Something the DHS would never dare to do.

Instead, they enter the homes of non-muslim lawabiding citizens and have them come out with their hands up.

Russia has a president who loves his country.

I am jealous.

Russia is merely using them as outposts - example Syria - because they don't have the subject countries that they used to. Russia does not give welfare to Muslim terrorists. They buy and sell intelligence and observation posts in foreign countries.

The Wahabis ARE Saudi Arabia. The gub’mnt and religion are intertwined. It’s a strict police state with many enemies.

The Russians have tens of thousands. Dead.

In late 1999 - early 2000, the Russians destroyed Grozny, the capital of Chechen. By destroy, I mean something on the scale of Dresden in WWII, or Hiroshima or Nagasaki. The entire city.

The Russians do not forgive. These 140 may be just the number of Islamicists that the Russians allowed to live.

Russia is not a free country. Why should we be like them?

We shouldn’t. The Bill of Rights is not a suicide pact. Islam is hostile to our traditions, to our very soul and should not be encouraged.

No, the DHS would detain 200 Catholics and 200 Evangelicals on the same day.

Sorry the Bill of Rights is a suicide pact. Ben Franklin warned us about giving up our freedoms in the name of “security”.

Perhaps the Waldorf-Astoria has 140 rooms that they’d like to rent to the US gubmint.

The American system as envisaged by the Founders has failed — the country has accepted as its president someone whose personal history is still a total enigma but Congress has expediently accepted the big lie.

And probably shoot them down without any reluctance if they protest.

Russia does not give welfare to Muslim terrorists.

That very much depends on what you call "welfare". Putin certainly feeds those in the North Caucasus who are friendly to his regime: they voted for him at the rate of, like, 99% (across Russia it was more like 60% counting fraud). Grozny, the capital of Chechnya now sports a huge mosque and generally was transformed into a prosperous glistening city on the federal ruble. Russian nationalists in the meanwhile have had the slogan "Enough with the feeding of the Caucasus!" for years, and got jail terms for that. Generally, the petroruble is mostly spent on the Muslim periphery. Will it buy anyone security, remains to be seen; the last mass-scale terror attack in Russia was in February (three killed, 6 wounded, one missing). However, the rate is far better than in 2012, so they must be doing something right (ru.wikipedia.org

Never thought I could admire a corrupt dictator and former KGB officer more than my own president. But I do. Indeed, there is much to admire in Putin as compared to Obama: particularly his ruthless battle against Islamists, and his steadfast opposition to the gay agenda.
