After yesterday’s opening of the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, many in the media are taking a look back at the presidency of George W. Bush after a little time to put it in perspective, and the results do a Catholic heart good: Former fierce critics are acknowledging the kindness and accomplishments of the man.
When millions of Catholics see Bush standing in between Presidents Clinton and Obama in those pictures, surely we remember him more fondly than ever.
Because of the abortion extremism of Bill Clinton, pro-life Catholics were rooting for Bush to win. When he did, pro-lifers cheered. When Gore challenged the win, pro-lifers took action.
If you were on faithful Catholic e-mail lists back then, you remember the Lepanto 2000 Rosary Crusade. Organizers gathered 570,000 Rosary pledges and prayed for a pro-life victory in the contested election. These were shortly followed by the emails celebrating how Lepanto 2000 had triumphed. Key dates in Bush v. Gore happened to fall on Dec. 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and Dec. 12, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
No one seriously considered him Mary’s Chosen One, but the dates were suggestive. When his term started, hopes rose higher still.
On the first weekday of his presidency, the newly inaugurated president announced to the 2001 March for Life that he was re-instating the Mexico City Policy of Ronald Reagan, stopping federal funding of overseas abortion.

I don’t think there’s ever been a president so falsely maligned. Everything the Left said and continues to say about him is twisted backward. The “mission accomplished” banner, the fake AWOL accusation. Tax cuts for the rich. And of course, the reason for the Iraq invasion. It’s as if liberals intentionally misunderstand in order to justify their continued hatred based on even more misunderstanding.
Too bad they voted for Al Gore in support of the Clinton/Gore agenda, Catholics voted against George W. in the 2000 election.
The title is misleading.

With communists, marxists, radical leftist and democrats (but I repeat myself), it is perfectly acceptable to win at all costs including lies and prevarication. It is a very asymmetric game we play with honor and integrity paramount on our side.
Yes, but at some point the flood of lies breaks the levees. Which also reminds me of Katrina. The Left paraded that tragedy for weeks, claiming it was all Bush’s fault.
The levees are pretty strong...the promise of communism goes back a couple of millennia and picked up steam 150 years ago. Gullible people continue to believe in utopia, the ultimate lie.
Why not ask Iraqi Catholics how greatful they are to GW?

No, just the majority of Catholics support Clinton and Gore and Obama and the democrat party and liberalism and are anti-Republican/conservatism.
Articles like the one above, which are constantly flowing from Catholic sources, do a disservice to conservatism and conservative Catholics by continuing to promote the opposite of the truth about the Catholic vote, and we can’t fix what we don’t even know about.
Every article of this sort should be to educate conservative catholics to how their fellow catholics are voting, not misleading them with cheer leading and the generations old illusions that the Catholics are saving America and that catholic immigration will empower life and conservatism.
I am Catholic and I love George W Bush. I have been much hated because of it too.
I used to have a whole bunch of links for Catholics and Bush, but sadly I deleted them.
Before the last election, I heard a Catholic bishop say that your vote is not unknown to God. If you support abortion in any way, you must eventually answer for it. I hope they will be able to answer for it as I hope to be able to answer for my own sins. Can they just pig-pile those upon Jesus after already knowing Jesus? I don’t know.
The fact that you repeatedly paraphrase unscientific, unreliable exit polls which employ suspect, at best, methodology is very telling regarding the level of integrity you possess.
Behind every double standard lies an unconfessed single standard.
Look at your post which is nothing but a angry personal attack, totally meaningless and totally bizarre and it didn’t even say anything, indeed, the simple post of a one trick pony. Why? Who knows.
The biggest problem with W is his promulgation (or continued, after Clinton) of a war and aid for putative allies, who have completely decimated Orthodox Christianity in now Muslim areas of the world. Iraq right now has less than 10% of the Chaldeans it had when Saddam Hussein was in power. In Egypt, the Copts have either been killed or fled for the most part.
Remember that the Middle East and North Africa was almost entirely Christian before the Muslim invasion.
