“I think it better to say that the Jehovah's Witnesses as a group were the only “voluntary victims” of the Holocaust. Individual Jews were certainly martyrs, the Jews as a group, as a people were victims.
By that I mean, that had the Witnesses been willing to renounce their faith or cease to proselytize, they would have been released from the concentration camps. Believing Christians — including Ministers, Priest and Nuns — whose had themselves converted to Christianity or whose parents and in some cases grandparents had converted to Christianity —war victimized as Jews. Certainly not by choice.
Does that make it more clear.

I’ve studied the persecution of the church for 30 yrs. Hitler had a whole list of Christian denominations he outlawed and persecuted.
What is really sad is the utter coldness and hatred you are showing to a religious minority - in a conversation directly related to their torture and slaughter!
I don’t get JW’s and their theology. I have serious doubts about a lot of their core beliefs. I also, however, believe in seeing the face of Christ in all of his creation.
It would appear that you have a very ambivalent attitude about the treatment of fellow human beings based solely on their religious beliefs. I suggest you speak with your pastor about your feelings - perhaps he can guide you on the proper way to approach our brothers and sisters in God’s creation. If your pastor is the one putting these poisonous feelings in your heart, seek a different church.

Community and individuality are not opposites. People cannot survive on their own. When the odds are stacked against you, you must rally with the oppressed and hated.
When a growing oppressive regime is taking hold, you must act, otherwise you will soon face your enemy alone and hopeless.
Strength of community is a strength as much as individualism, as long you are willing to face weaknesses in your own community. Ignoring slacking values will mean that you will be rallied against by those you oppress.
Niemöller affirms we must rally against unhealthy organized regimes. We must also stay vigilant with those that appear to be good natured, as all organisation attracts corruption. Niemöller also warns us that if it is you who are corrupt, then you will face a stronger combined force of foe!

I’m a devout Catholic, and I don’t believe good people will go to hell just because they haven’t found Jesus. In fact, given the Church’s outreach to other religions, I don’t believe the Church feels that way either.
