Be assured you’re in my prayers. What a full life; I would’ve loved hearing about the past from him.

"Because you have seen Me, Thomas, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."(Jn 20:29)

Myrrh and incense let us take
and a sweet remembrance make
of souls who sleep with the faith
that they will arise.
Who with your true body, Lord,
have received your blood adored;
Impart to these faithful souls
the heavenly prize.

Righteous souls the faith have kept,
with the hope of rising sleep,
Expecting your great reward in Heaven above.
Which has not been seen or heard,
nor to man has it occurred
what God has prepared for those
who yearn for His love.
From a hymn written by St. Ephrem - 4th century

Eternal rest grant unto your father, Salvation! May the angels escort him to his heavenly reward.

His body was giving out on him, but his mind was still sharp as a tack. We always played cards with him when I visited him.

Used to be pinochle, then it turned to canasta.

I just sent that to my brothers and sister for the funeral handout. Never know!

Beautiful words, and they fit my father.

Prayers for your family — my goodness a century meant God had a lot for him!

I know you know that God and Jesus soothe the souls of the just.

Please know I am praying for you.

I will never forget the words of the parish priest at my grandfather’s funeral: “save your prayers for the living, he (grandpa) is with the Lord already.”

Well I will ask his intercession for my daughter and her husband who are starting a milking operation in rural Otsego County NY. The Chobani yogurt success has created a market for milk in upstate NY - who would have thought. They got married last June and Molly is expecting on June 6th. So I am asking prayers for this young couple as well.

Thought you might enjoy the remarkable story behind the success of Chobani Yogurt. Many prayers for your daughter, son-in-law and their child.

Crossing The Bar

Sunset and evening star. And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar when I put out to sea. But such a tide as moving seems asleep too full for sound and foam. When that which drew from out the boundless deep turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell, and after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell when I embark;

For though from out our borne of time and place the flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face when I have crossed the bar.

Gabriel Fauré - Requiem : 'In Paradisum'

In paradisum deducant te Angeli; in tuo adventu suscipiant te martyres, et perducant te in civitatem sanctam Ierusalem. Chorus angelorum te suscipiat, et cum Lazaro quondam paupere æternam habeas requiem.

May angels lead you into paradise; upon your arrival, may the martyrs receive you and lead you to the holy city of Jerusalem. May the ranks of angels receive you, and with Lazarus, once a poor man, may you have eternal rest.
