Prosecutors: Indiana pastor told girl Jesus sanctioned sexual relationship
Chicago Tribune ^ | Carlos Sadovi

A former pastor of a northwest Indiana mega-church who has admitted having a sexual relationship with an underage parishioner exchanged hundreds of text messages with the girl and told her Jesus Christ sanctioned their relationship, prosecutors say.

The messages are quoted in a memorandum from prosecutors as they argue for a 10-year prison sentence for Jack A. Schaap, who has pleaded guilty to federal charges that he took a minor across state lines with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

The memorandum, filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Hammond, details how Schaap, 55, "groomed" the girl into having sex with him while he was pastor at the First Baptist Church of Hammond and was counseling her. The girl had turned 17 when the incidents were happening, according to prosecutors.

She was sent to him because she needed counseling over mental health issues. In other words her 17 year old mind was not in the right place and this scumbag took advantage of her “loose connections”. Her parents trusted him because he was a "man of God" and he took total advange of her and the parents. Vencome just do what my Granny always said. "Take him to the field and horsewhip him!"

It is an independent baptist church. It also has a history of sexual abuse problems, according to Wiki:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Baptist_Church_of_Hammond#History

“The sermon was called “The Polished Shaft,” and in the many times that Jack Schaap, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Hammond, had delivered it, it was the kind of showstopper that made him a rock star to his flock. (Or would have, had Schaap not habitually railed against the evils of rock music.)

As with most of his sermons at the northwest Indiana megachurch—the 14th largest in the country and the biggest Independent Baptist house of worship in the nation—the message struck as bluntly as a pounded nail: Submit to God’s plan for your life or be snapped like a twig and flung away (as Schaap would demonstrate by cracking a stick over his head, tossing it aside, and barking, “Next!”).

When you do submit, be prepared to endure excruciating pain. God will hold a metaphorical knife to your throat (as Schaap would illustrate by holding a steel blade against a twig the way an assailant might press on a jugular). Only then, he would growl, will you become a “polished shaft”: one suitable for God’s bow.

At this point, the sermon’s climax, Schaap would heave up a high-powered crossbow and fire an arrow into a red X painted on a fake rock a few feet from his pulpit...

... But in July 2010, an hour into the “Polished Shaft” sermon—in a church packed with thousands of teenagers there for a youth conference—Schaap went further. He lifted a stick in his left hand and a silver cloth in his right. He moved the bottom of the stick near his groin and angled it away from himself. Head thrown back, eyes squeezed shut, mouth gaping, he began rubbing the shaft rapidly with the cloth, up and down, up and down. “Ohh! Oh! Ohhhh! Oh! Oh, God, that hurts!” he shrieked.

Then, his voice dropping to a guttural whisper, he said, “Oh, oh, God. Thanks for what you’re making me.”

Schaap continued to rub the stick—up and down, up and down—and converse with God, sometimes angrily, sometimes ecstatically, for more than a minute. What he was doing was unmistakable: simulating masturbation, in front of thousands of children, in the middle of a church service.”

I am very leery of these mega complex churches (whatever they are called). Maybe it's just me but a lot of sexual abuse seems to occur.

after i opened his back with a scalpel, i'd take a battery and couple probes and make him think his whole body was on fire for days on end, then move up to a new nerve and repeat... somewhere along the line maybe he'd get his mind right with the Lord instead of blaspheming him

Jesus said, “whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” [Matthew 18:6 RSV]

You know what zot? The only reason Jesus said “millstone” is because “Concrete jeans” had not been invented!

God discussed people like this.

I think the phrase “millstone around their neck” was part of the discussion.

My heart grieves for that young woman.

Heh! Concrete jeans or lead shoes. But apparently this preacher didn’t get the message and neither did his congregation. To allow any preacher to get away with this and then cover for him is a failure of the leadership of the congregation.

This “pastor” should be defrocked and locked up for a very long time.
