Black Socialist Pope to Follow Black Socialist President?

With African Catholic Cardinal Peter Turkson in the running as the next pope, the media have noted that he carries the fancy title of the president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, an arm of the Vatican. But they have failed to note the existence of a left-wing lobby in the U.S. working feverishly on his behalf. It is the same group of radicals, with connections to billionaire hedge-fund operator George Soros, who backed Obama for president by claiming he shared their Catholic values.

One of Turkson’s chief supporters in the U.S. appears to be Stephen Schneck, an associate professor of politics at the Catholic University of America (CUA) and a top official of “Catholics for Obama.” He runs CUA’s Institute for Policy Research & Catholic Studies and holds conferences featuring left-wing and liberal speakers.

Notice the bizarre progression from fact to speculation to bizarre mudslinging Indeed, there was an investigation into a layperson being gay in the Vatican. La Republicca suggested that may have led to Benedict’s resignation; suggesting he felt the betrayal of several scandals led him to feel he was not up to the job. Presuming La Republicca’s guess as fact, the Guardian further guesses that for the scandal to be so devestating, it must have revealed homosexuals among the most prominent Catholics. Was the Vatican compromised by blackmail? From there, Political Animal presumes it must be the pope who was blackmailed. But how does that explain the evidence? The only thing linking the resignation to the investigation of homosexuality was the timing; does Political Animal mean to suggest that the investigators hired by Pope Benedict to look into homosexuality in the Vatican found out that Pope Benedict was gay, and is blackmailing him, so the pope resigned and proceeded to show the report to the cardinals assembled for the conclave?

This is freaky. Could this Peter be the last Pope prophesied by St. Malachy, Petrus Romanus?
This guy’s ideology and associations seem to fit in with the End Times Pope.

The Church drove me out years ago starting with granting a divorce to dead Ted, and completing the idiocy with those myriads of gay priests.

As much as I’d like to return, a Catholic Liberation Theology Pope would be the last straw.

Black doesn’t bother me - as long as it’s a “Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, or Clarance Thomas Black”.

Won’t be a black Pope, in my opinion.

The last hundred or however many of St. Malachy's prophecies have been pretty much debunked as hoaxes or illegitimate additions to the original list.

This guy’s ideology and associations seem to fit in with the End Times Pope.

I think you're imagining or reading in to it your own biases. He's not my favorite but nothing like you claim.

he's considered conservative, except for this social justice malarky.

Yeah, and Karl Marx would have been quite mainstream...if you ignore that dialectical materialism silliness!

Cardinal Peter Turkson of Roman Curia. Peter the Roman.

Right. Because Satan does not need to conceal his plans.

This Cardinal has made the tactical error of campaigning for the position.

Typically, that doesn’t go over very well.

Besides, the name “Peter” would play right into the Malachi Prophesy, and that’s likely an optic they’d rather avoid.

I was thinking the same thing. Do they mock the prophesy? Not so sure I would take that chance.

No, it was the first hundred or so. There was no need to alter the last hundred by whoever did it because they did it to insert their own candidate in the 1500s. They didn't know what the last hundred meant so they left them as is. They changed the one in their time to say a pope would come from the "old city". It didn't work, he lost anyway.

Who knows what the first hundred said.

At any rate, the Old and New Testament was God's Word, and anything after that you gotta watch out because it may be demons playing tricks. That being said, they hit at least the last 3 spot on. Before Benedict was elected, Malachy sites called the name he would take beforehand, and they were right, because of the tie between "Benedict" and olives.

Actually there were only 112 in the Malachy prophesy. So maybe 55 unchanged, 55 of the first ones changed, or so.

I predict Bertone, Pius XIII.

You are parroting Fr. Thibaut's take on the prophecies, which is not necessarily correct.

Also, on the "Benedict and olives" purported connection, I have used that myself, but the notion was resoundingly debunked by others with more knowledge on this very forum. We amateurs can try but won't necessarily get it right.

I’ve been watching Irvin Baxter on a program on Christian tv called “End of the Age”. He’s very interesting, and has certainly seemed to have studied Bible prophecy more than most; has some takes on things that make one think. (Here on Monday nights at 9:00 PM on the Church Channel.) Programs done in a short and very interesting way. Keeps your attention.

I am trying to educate myself on the cardinals thought to be papabile. I believe that so far I agree with you. Cardinal Ranjith would make a splendid choice from what I have seen.

That said, I also agree with a statement from the new Nigerian cardinal who received his red hat in November, 2012, and who said something to the effect that the Holy Spirit has already chosen the next pope and it is the job of the conclave to discover his identity and to vote accordingly. I was doing my daily penance reading the National (anti-)Catholic Reporter on 3/5/13 and discovered the article about the Nigerian cardinal. You might find the article worth reading unlike most of NCReporter's garbage.

God bless you and yours!

The forces of darkness, and that certainly includes the homosexual lobby inside the Church, have been trying for 2,000 years to destroy God’s Pilgrim Church on Earth. Ain’t gonna happen.
