Anglicans Swimming the Tiber, a One-Year Report
Terry Mattingly on Religion ^ | 2/13/13 | Terry Mattingly

It’s natural for any employee to want to know just how committed the big boss is to the company’s future and, especially, to the expansion project that includes his job.

So, even though Pope Benedict XVI didn’t make it to America in person, Father Jason Catania still appreciated the message he sent to the former Episcopal priests and others who swam the Tiber to Rome after the pontiff’s controversial “Anglicanorum Coetibus (“groups of Anglicans”) pronouncement in 2009.

“We didn’t just wake up one morning last year and said, ‘Why don’t we join the Catholic Church?’ Many of us have made personal and financial sacrifices over the years to do this,” said Catania, who leads Mount Calvary Church in Baltimore. This was the first American parish that voted to enter one of the new “personal ordinariates” — the equivalent of nationwide dioceses — that would allow Anglicans to retain key elements of their liturgy, music, art and other traditions, such as married priests.

“We were very intentional and took many steps toward Rome on this journey,” he said. “Now we’re starting to see the results of the Vatican’s strategic step toward us.”

Clergy and supporters of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter gathered at its home base in Houston last week to mark the first anniversary of this outreach effort in America. Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Muller, the new leader of the Vatican’s powerful Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, offered his share of theological commentary on this project, but made it clear that his main message was personal.

Adolph Hitler was baptized Catholic. Was he always Catholic?

But, continue on with the candles, the chalice, the prada shoes, the pointy hats, and the incense...

Ok you got us on the shoes. But otherwise its all shown in an image of Biblical teaching, right down to the carved images that the priest and the whole nation of Israel bowed towards.

Tragically, all you have demonstrated here is the similarity between the Mosaic Law & Catholicism. And, the Law was “made obsolete” with the resurrection of Jesus. Now there is just one mediator between man & God, the Man-Christ Jesus. Rome ought to have read the Book they claimed to have delivered to the world.

Do you know why the priests dressed up...Apparently you don't...

These priests were mediators...The regular folk couldn't get behind the curtain to where the Mercy Seat was...It took special priests to get there...The priests deliverd the sacrifice, the atonement...Just like your holy father and his gaggle of priests, eh???

Mat 27:50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
Mat 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

Hey man, the veil is gone...The priest is out of business...The temples are gone...The sacrifices are gone...The priesthood is gone...

Catholic and Orthodox priests are in the wrong Millennium...

If you want to have temple worship with a 'holy father' priest, you're in the wrong religion...And even if you were in the right religion, you'd still be condemned because there's not a Levite among you...

It's all in the book...Hundereds of millions of people know this is true and they found that truth in the 'Book'...The book God gave us and told us to study...

Once a Catholic — always a Catholic — and the person will have to answer for their Baptism when they die.

They may not be an active Catholic right now, but they will always be a Catholic.

What a fantasy...But you keep telling yourselves and each other that...

The folks who left your religion to find Jesus know better than to believe that nonsense...They just laugh at those absurdities...

I thought we were supposed to be pagans and now you are saying we are extensions of judaism. Which is kinda the point.

"I thought we were supposed to be pagans and now you are saying we are extensions of judaism. Which is kinda the point."

You have certainly pointed up the incredible misunderstanding that RC has of the Scriptures. Paul rebukes such views with,

"You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the Law or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish?"

Gal. 3:1ff

May want to check that Book Rome claims to have delivered. The reason you will only hear the 4 Gospel books used in the Homilies is that Rome will not read the "rest of the story". The rest of the story says, "It has never been by law, but it has always been salvation by grace alone, through faith, and (none of) that from yourselves, it is a gift of God, not by works, lest any man boast."

And for you, reading lessons for Christmas...

I said at the Homilies, the 4 Gospels are always used.

I’ll bring that up to the priest and tell him he’s doing it wrong.

And you said only not always.

I’m done. Some men you just can’t reach.

But I will for you that you will eventually be able to understand.

Well, please tell us, do you hear the epistles during the Homily?

If so, have you read Paul and his admonition to all that there is no longer a “law” with sacerdotalism, absolution, mediation? Are you aware there is no such thing as an indulgence, a rosary, a canonization of men, a pope, or any of the other thousands of pounds of baggage added by Rome?

Yes quite often. Who on earth told you otherwise ?

Thats what makes your whole diatribe so amusing. Its truly built upon lack of information.

Then I suggest you listen to them and learn from them. Rome has bought into a false Gospel and its recruitment efforts are no different than those of Isalam. And right now Islam is gaining on Rome.
