I don't believe employers are typically involved there. One of our priests is from Ireland; he seemed to indicate that the gov't healthcare in Ireland is fairly minimal & most people buy a supplemental policy from a private insurer on their own.
Whats the difference between the state mandating you have to pay for something that is against ones faith and the state paying for the same thing with ones taxes? I mean we have been funding planned parenthood for a while now.
It's the difference between "proximate" and "remote" material cooperation with evil. Remote cooperation is when one party does something good (paying taxes) and another party (the government) perverts that good thing to the service of evil (supporting abortion) without the approval or cooperation of the first party. Remote material cooperation can be permitted for a good reason (i.e., the government does good things with tax money as well).
Cooperating with the Obama death mandate is proximate material cooperation with evil and not permissible.
I guess that’s what they must be thinking, thanks. So there is nothing that could be done with tax monies that would force the Church to stop paying taxes(in those areas where they pay them) because there are other good things also done with them? I guess I was just equating taxes used to pay for something bad and the state mandating you to pay for something bad as far as what happens when you don’t obey. Which seems like it is pretty much going to be the same thing, fines, prison, punishment.
