Very plausible. The debate on the location of Queen of Sheba’s empire ranged from Ethiopia to Yemen. And if Christianity was strong enough to create a Christian king in Ethiopia, why not Yemen?

There were Jewish kings in Yemen before Islam. One, a convert, persecuted Christians (though one needs to see it in the socio-religious sense, not just as religious persecution).
