Vatican: Pope Won’t be Intimidated into Silence on Life, Homosexuality by 'Shouting' Media

VATICAN, December 20, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) - Fr. Federico Lombardi, Director of the Vatican Press Office published an editorial Saturday responding to mainstream media denunciations of Pope Benedict’s message for World Day of Peace.

In the message, released December 14, the pope noted that “serious harm to justice and peace” comes from denying the true principles of respect for life and promotion of the “natural structure of marriage as the union of a man and a woman.”

Lombardi noted that the media storm resulted specifically from the pope’s comments on traditional marriage. “This has happened,” he said, “because the pope, in a short passage, returns to the vision of marriage between a man and a woman as profoundly different from radically other forms of union, and states that this difference is recognizable by human reason.”

The Vatican Press Office Director said that the “the Church never tires of stressing” its pro-life and pro-family views, even “at a time when this point is being challenged and even attacked from several quarters in many different countries.”

Good. I'd like to see every one of its victims start calling out the news media by name.

Long past time to begin informing Americans what they should think about the MSM.

Do we actually have a pope with testicles and testoterone????
someone that will actually stand up for the church???

We need a pope with the proverbial bull whip used by Jesus Christ. Yes Jesus was about love but he also wanted the church sanitized.

If he were to publically excommunicate the likes of Pelosi, Biden, etc I might start going back to church!

"...and states that this difference is recognizable by human reason.”

Key phrase here. The Christian position on marriage isn't just a religious one, but one based on nature and right reason. In other words, just a good common sense conclusion based on observation and thinking, rather than emoting. Romans 1 and Wisdom 13 lay this out very clearly.

Sorry, there is no higher standard of truth and ethics than the word of God and it is cultural suicide to place fallen reason above it. I for one will stand on the word and will not be shamed, shouted or ridiculed off of that one certain revelation of God. The consequences of a sin are not the basis for it to be named a sin, it is sin because it transgress the law/word of God. The temporal consequences are a gracious reminder that the eternal consequences of sin are real and that fallen men need mercy that can only come through the sacrifice of Christ.

the MSM(sic).

The DLEMM - Dominant Liberal Establishment Mass Media - is composed of leftists. Leftists don't reflect and don't represent the mainstream. Why are you perpetuating the myth that they do?

I get your point, but I never read the “mainstream” in MSM to mean mainstream of public thinking, but mainstream of the media industry.

In the document the Holy Father also calls Pro-Lifers “true peacemakers” and supporters of abortion, defenders of a “false peace”. Amen!

You might want to read 1 Timothy 3:15.

You might want to read 1 Timothy 3:15.

I guess I really don't know what it is your are trying to say. I'm reiterating 2 Timothy 3:15-17 ...and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

All Scripture is given for among other things for correction and it is sufficient for every good work. So I guess I'm kinda missing your point. I hope you are not blaspheming by claiming that RCC is the ground and pillar of the truth with supremacy over the Word. Ground and pillar of the truth is not the same as the truth. It is a subtle idolatry that worships the church and not the Lord over the church.
