National Geographic channel featured a TV special titled "The Real Face of Jesus" that was a result of years and years of study and advanced computer generation that reconstructed a face based on the Shroud itself.

The Real Face of Jesus - Shroud of Turin used to create new 3D portrait of Jesus

The classic "x-ray" negative picture of the Shroud is incredible in that it actually contains 3-D information, like a statue that is hidden data within the image. Science is still attempting to get its arms around this as there is no other image that has a recorded history centuries long that contains such data.

At the 1:00 minute mark of this video, you see the Shroud an the almost Nordic classical features of the X-ray image of the Shroud. Many things were taken into consideration to produce the computer generated estimation of the face of Christ that ensues.

What was produced was this image:

This is a much more an image of a classical Jewish man. there were some "gaps" filled in during the process. Hair, compression of the cloth, distortions caused by the cloth, etc. However, if you watch the entire 2.0 hour TV series you can tell that the team really did their homework. This was not an overnight process. It literally took years and years to produce.

I am not saying this computer generations is 100% accurate. However, it is my opinion that it is as close as we are ever going to get until we see Him face to face. And thank Christ, I will.

what you think a "Middle-Eastern Jew" now looks like

Most of us know Jews of the Ashkenazi branch, with distinct features they took on for the 2000 years of living in Asian and central European diaspora.

They are called "peyos". It was the traditional hair arrangement for Jewish men in that day...and for some still is.

The Torah says, "You shall not round off the peyos of your head" (Leviticus 19:27).

The word peyos refers to sideburns -- i.e. the hair in front of the ears that extends to underneath the cheekbone which is level with the nose. The Talmud explains that this law only applies to men, not to women.

Sorry if this particular pic offended you. I had seen it earlier in the day and it had cheered me up at the thought of how many young ultraorthodox Jews are serving in the IDF. But I realize that the picture of a soldier is not appropriate when we are talking about the Prince of Peace. I just meant to show the peyos.

I never noticed before what appears to be a heavily piped tunic collar.

That "tunic collar" is an artifact from a fold in the Shroud cloth... the body is nude.

When the figure turns to it’s left, the end of the ...line ... disappears and as it turns to it’s right it reappears and becomes more pronounced.

Thanks for the word “Peyos”. I never knew what they were called, or if I did, I forgot.

Sorry if this particular pic offended you.

Not at all. Please. I am no shrinking violet. My bum around t-shirt is an IDF t-shirt my son got for me when he was in Israel a few years back.
In fact, I was rather impressed by how well used the gentleman's M16 is. He has been around the block a few times.

No offense at all. My response was only tinged with a bit of sarcasm because of the most prominent object in the phonto. It rather grabs one's attention so the peyos are not so quickly seen.

I reckon that depends on one's point of view. When I first saw the pic, the peyos jumped out at me, even if I didn't know the name, and the pic went immediately in my collection of IDF soldiers wearing tefillin, prayer shawls and, now, peyos. Eze 37 talks about a mighty army and many scholars believe he was referring to the IDF. I would like to add that it refers to the observant Jews in the IDF.
