‘Straight, Christian’ Pretended to be Gay For a Year
The Christian Diarist ^ | October 16, 2012 | JP

I don’t believe Timothy Kurek. He’s the alleged Christian, alleged heterosexual who told ABC News he spent a year “pretending” to be gay.

Why did the 26-year-old Nashville man, a graduate of Liberty University (the so-called evangelical “West Point”) decide to go undercover? Because, he said, he wanted to “walk in the shoes” of a homosexual.

So Kurek went all in.

He “came out” as gay to all his family and friends. He got a job in a gay café. He hung out at a gay bar. He joined a gay softball league. He even got a gay bud of his – “a big, black, burly Teddy bear” is how Kurek described him – to be his “pretend” boyfriend.

So how did it all work out for Kurek?

Well, he said, he “went from being a very conservative Christian to being an ally of the gay community.”

That’s because church people are so intolerant, so judgmental, so unwilling to accept that homosexuality is on a moral par with heterosexuality.

In church, said Kurek, “You learned to be afraid of God” and that “the loving thing to tell my friend that is gay, ‘Hey listen, you are an abomination and you need to repent to go to heaven.’ I absolutely believed in that lock, stock and barrel.”

Well, I don’t know what kind of church Kurek attended. And I don’t know what kind of theology it espoused.

I just know I’ve attended a number of churches around the country with conservative Christian congregations.

None of them taught that Christ followers should be “afraid” of God. And I heard no pastor say that the loving thing to tell any gay friends or family we might have is that they are abominable and going to hell if the don’t straighten up.

What I heard in those conservative Christian churches is that God is love. That He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. That He is not willing that any should perish – including gays – but that all should come to repentance.

Kurek, author of a book, “The Cross in the Closet,” thinks gays have nothing to repent. He thinks it should be perfectly acceptable for man to lie with man, and woman to lie with woman.

Well, God’s Word says otherwise.

And allies of the gay community, like Kurek, the alleged Christian, espouse false doctrine when they tell homosexuals they can live in defiance of that Word without fear of eternal separation from the Almighty.

I can tell you one thing, it wasn't a catholic church. The gays loathe and mock the catholic church at every opportunity, to them it is public enemy number one. And yet, after 12 years of catholic education and going to church for my entire life, I cannot recall a single time ever that the topic of homosexuality ever came up in a catholic church or school. Not once. I don't get why the gays hate it so.

“None of them taught that Christ followers should be “afraid” of God.”

“...fear the Lord...” is commonly misrepresented as fear or be afraid, rather the true meaning as respect or love the Lord.

so unwilling to accept that homosexuality is on a moral par with heterosexuality

Yeah, they are so equal, aren't they?

Homosexuality, if pursued to its ultimate end, will give you a fatal STD and probably encourage you to share that fatal STD with others, even the unwilling.

Heterosexuality, if pursued to its ultimate end, will bless you with children, grandchildren and future generations.

Tough choice, isn't it?

That’s because church people are so intolerant, so judgmental, so unwilling to accept that homosexuality is on a moral par with heterosexuality.

Well, in a way, it is. It’s on a moral par with adultery, lying, murder, and the other litany of sins. Sin is sin - there’s none worse than the other. Any blemish, any discoloration, any SIN, keeps you from God.

Unless you’ve accepted that Jesus paid for those sins, and then, and only then, are you not under the punishment for those sins.

It’s really simple - which is the hard part to rationalize; why did God make it so simple, when He’s so complicated? Why am *I* so complicated, why is THIS WORLD so complicated, when God made it so simple?

Mark 10:15 (New King James Version)
15 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”

Luke 18:17 (New King James Version)
17 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”

We have all come short of the Glory of God.

IMHO, we are to love the sinner, hate the sin. We must keep them in our hearts, and help them understand, if we can.

God gives us a lifetime to change our hearts. We must do the same for them.

He should tell the gay people that he has converted away from homosexuality and finds it to be physically and morally repugnant. He will soon see how intolerant they are.

Wonder how many rants against “breeders” he had to endure and how much hysteria about “intolerant Jesus believing heterosexuals” who “want bedroom police” he overheard.

I let liberals rant in my presence neither joining in with commentary or even head nodding and you wouldn’t believe the things they’ll let fly.

Gays are not even “gay”. I have never met an angrier, meaner, nastier, most belligerent group of people...

HOMOSEXUAL, because there's nothing GAY about it.

The sex positive agenda seeks to end ALL moral judgments over ALL sexual pairings regardless of sex, age, relation, marital status, number, or species of partner(s).

The advocates see orgasm as a birthright to be enjoyed by everyone at every age and Planned Parenthood’s sex-education arm SIECUS seeks to push this in our schools (which is why they are so opposed to abstinence, not because “it doesn’t work” but because they oppose the concept, they see it as “unhealthy”, and counter to their hedonistic worldview).

Some sex positive advocates even have branded the Christian religion “sex negative”. So much for the separation of church and state with so much of our tax dollars in academia, PP, and hospitals pushing this agenda.

Saying that shacking up, adultery, and the hookup culture are “today’s world” and “can’t be judged by the old morals” means celebrating sin and defining normal by man’s base desires.

No pretending here, I am a lesbian trapped inside a man’s body. Can’t stop looking at pretty women.

Anyway, I don’t even want to see a “gay softball team”. They don’t run bases, they prance, flap, & mince around them.

Why all this “Christian” hoopla & guilting over 1% of the population? Of course that can refer to either faggies or muzzies.

Exactly, DIARIST. If you follow Christian doctrine (and let Jesus save you-the Holy Spirt lead you to repentence that comes through a real faith in Jesus death and resurrection) then you believe the word of God.

Homosexuality is merely an outward sign of a heart not right with God.
