Just because the last pope is from Poland doesn’t mean he is deserving of any praise. He lost an opportunity, although I believe he was part of the program, to erase the errors of Vatican II and to have restored the Church to what Jesus Christ had intended when he placed the responsibility on St. Peter for maintaining His Church in perpetuity.
I understand that Romney was being politically kind to make a nice reference to the late resident of Krakow.
I am reminded of a joke involving the late pope.
His secretary races into the papal office and says “Holy Father, I know this is hard to believe but the news I bear is good news and it is bad news.”
“Quick, father, tell me what the good news is.”
“Our Saviour is on the phone.”
“That’s marvelous. What possibly could the bad news be?”
“He’s calling from Salt Lake City!”
