Actually that is not entirely correct, but some how I suspect you know that...

I would think that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-saint could be called the previling thought of Mormon teaching.

Yes some would think that this this is not correct. I’m trying look at this from the Orthodox point of view. Using the view point that heresy is deviation from orthodox view.

Thanks for your reply.

'we' are OVERWHELMING against ROMNEY.

Yes, but unfortunately we were not unified behind one not-Romney in the primary. Same problem would apply at convention if pledged delegates violated their pledges.

If you were looking at this from an orthodox point of view you would realize that the LDS fall outside the family of Christians.

>>>”To become the Republican Party nominee, the candidate must win a simple majority of 1,191 of the 2,380 total delegates ..”

Romney has 1422 pledged delegates.

I think it unlikely to have a different nominee.

>>”Which of the 300 churches in the US is the standard for determining heretical teachings?”

For purposes of election to office? None. That, of course, is my point. Individuals decide, but my heresy may be your orthodoxy.

In more general terms, for Christianity, the Nicene Creed is a common standard, but it’s use and interpretation vary greatly. I would say the divinity of Christ and the Most Holy Trinity and the canon of Holy Scripture are bare minimums for most.

While Barry talks like a Universal Unitarian, I think his religion is closest to that of his ex-pastor and that of Trinity United Church of Christ.

Of course Wright and TUCC veered off strongly into the racist Black liberation theology based on the works of James Hal Cone and shares much in common with Black Muslims under Louis Farrakhan.

But at least he’s not LDS!

:)

But nice try...

#1...the UCC (United Church of Christ) was the FIRST denomination that claimed to be "Christian" to accept homosexuals as pastors -- this was back in the 1960s -- before even the homosexual community was advocating for such a thing...showing how liberal they are...

#2... Listen...with that closing remark you made...while the UCC portends to be "Christian," Obama doesn't portend to be "conservative" (nor does he claim UCC membership, anymore)...

Romney DOES claim to represent conservatism...

So the big distinctive there is counterfeiting...

Obama doesn't pretend to be a conservative; Romney does...

Obama doesn't even put a pretense out there anymore of linking to a "Christian-in-Name-Only" denomination; Romney does -- in being part of a church that misuses/abuses the Name of Jesus Christ...

If that comparison is supposed to make Obama look like the best candidate, it fell quite short.

(It wasn't)

If you ask me to endorse either a reincarnated Hitler running as the "RINO" candidate...vs. the Dem Anti-Christ (as in THE Anti-Christ)...you're not going to find me endorsing the (R) guy...like you would a lot of FREEPERs...

A lot of FREEPERs would tell you -- even in the above mythical scenario...
...ya gotta vote for the "lesser of two evils"...
...or, an "ABTAC" version of ABO ("Anybody But THE Anti-Christ")
...or, who would have a less negative impact on our culture...
...or you name the political relativistic poison...

And, of course, it's this kind of political relativism that they are teaching their children and grandchildren -- setting them up for eventually voting for an (R) guy to the left of Obama...and somebody who really could be like a reincarnated Hitler...

100 sects of Mormonism ?

Before I responded to your earlier post, I didn't know how many sects of Mormonism still exist. I got my number from ReligionFacts.com. The site looked credible, at least credible enough because my point is not contingent on the accuracy of that estimate.

Why does the SLC branch of LDS get to determine Mormon orthodoxy? Because they are the largest?
