Republican lawmakers love to say they are protective of religious freedom and supportive of the military. Last week, Republicans on the House Armed Services Committee passed two measures that undermine both in an effort to deny equal rights to gay men and lesbians.
It was particularly disturbing to see this implacable campaign of intolerance at work during a week in which President Obama announced his support for the expansion of the right to marry to all Americans.
Just hours after Mr. Obama tried to lead the nation forward, the House Armed Services Committee was turning the clock back. On a 37-to-24 party-line vote, the committee approved an amendment to the annual military budget bill that would bar the use of a military installation or other property owned or rented by, or otherwise under the jurisdiction or control of the Department of Defense for a same-sex marriage or marriage-like ceremony.
This measure is a flagrant violation of the First Amendments guarantee of freedom of religion a right that conservatives champion when it suits their political agenda. If, for example, a Navy chaplain wanted to perform a same-sex wedding, he would be prohibited from doing so in his chapel even if it is in a state that recognizes same-sex marriages....

Wow - I’ve heard of grasping at strwas before, but this could be a new low by the NYSlimes. How can one who thinks there is an actual separation of Church, which protects folks from bieng exposed to religion, claim that homosexuals being “married” as a religious “right” and be all for what God called an abomination. They also seem to be ignorant that the vast majority of military (like the vast majority of humans on earth) are not homosexual and that the military would function much more affectively, and with higher morale, if they went back to the policies before DADT.
Bull crap!
Wednesday, the House Armed Services Committee passed its version of a bill designed, in part, to protect military chaplains from coming under pressure to marry service members of the same sex. Host Rachel Martin speaks with Retired Army Chaplain Douglas E. Lee about the issue.
The Military does not force doctors to perform abortions at military hospitals what is the difference??

It is BS because the Chaplain can go off Base and marry anyone if it is allowed in that state. No Chaplain has a “chapel.” The Chapels are non-denominational. You may have a Chapel designated for Catholic Services, but on many bases the same Chapel will be used by other denominations. As I told my Chaplain, I will never attend services in any Base Chapel as long as the Chief of Chaplains (gay friendly denomination) allows base Chapels to be defiled.
Intolerance = No white flags
How is allowing the perversion of homosexual marriage a step forward?
