Father, Thank You for this Day! Thank You for this Beautiful Country we call home! A Nation Blessed by You! May we remember and return to the values that draw us close to You. In how we serve and glorify Your Name! Forgive us as a nation, for what we’ve brought! If it be Thy Will, turn us back! Show us the way! Restore Our Strength and Renew Our Faith, Father!

Please Bless and Protect Our Amazing American Heroes. We Love them so! Where would we be without their Love of Country? Thank You for the American Service Member... An amazing servant! And we will not forget their sacrifices! We will Honor them In how we cherish the Freedom for which they fight. God Bless them! God Bless their families. Fill them each with Your Peace and Presence!

Help us each to be a Light in this dark world Through Your Love.

God’s Timing
May 7, 2012

Pastor Audley Black’s church near the south coast of Jamaica has been in a building program since at least 2005. That was the first time I visited his church and saw that they were expanding. The last time I was there—in the spring of 2011—some of the walls were up. By that summer, they had started on the roof. When I suggested to Pastor Black that perhaps the church would be done by 2013 when I thought I might return, he said it was a possibility.

There was no hint of disappointment that this project could take 8 years or longer! No, Pastor Black and his people are excited about what God is doing, and they’re patient with His timing.

We are often not that patient. We want our church to grow quickly, our young people to mature right away, and our problems to be fixed today.

Maybe we need to be reminded that some things take time—God’s time. For instance, when the Israelites first left Egypt, God sent them on the long route to the Promised Land (Ex. 13:17-18). During that time He prepared them, taught them, and challenged them.

In our microwave world, we want everything done instantaneously. But sometimes that’s not God’s plan. Let’s seek God’s help and learn to accept His timing.

God’s timetable may move slowly, but it does move surely.

GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON AND THE MARQUIS DE LAFAYETTE AT VALLEY FORGE
In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise for our heroes in the American military who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Amen.
