A prominent advocate for the separation of church and state filed a formal complaint with the Internal Revenue Service Thursday, accusing the Roman Catholic Diocese of Peoria of violating federal law by intervening in a political campaign.
The Rev. Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, alleges that a fiery homily by Peoria Bishop Daniel Jenky last Sunday effectively urged Catholics to vote against Obama in the 2012 presidential election.

Gad, how obnoxious can that guy get!
Barry Lynn is no reverand and is only storing up greater damnation for himself by posing as one.
Hey ... if Obama can encourage pastors of black churches to get their congregation to vote for him, the RCC can play politics too. What’s good for the goose ......
Except this Bishop is not playing politics. The Catholic church has very specific teachings regarding killing the unborn. He is stating very clearly that democrats are forcing Catholics to aide in the killing of the unborn. This is no different than stating that democrats want higher taxes. The teachings of the church are fact. The actions of democrats are fact. The political implications of those facts are not the fault of the church (whose teachings have not changed) but rather the democrats who have aligned themselves against the church.
This is in contrast to black churches where church “doctrine” is whatever it needs to be to help the commies.
Exaclty!!
I’ve had the privilege of meeting Bishop Jenky several times when he was in Indiana. A truly outstanding and upstanding man of the Faith. He is absolutely correct here, and has always spoken the truth at every occasion.
I now live in an adjoining, rather liberal diocese. A lot of us drive to the Peoria diocese rather than put up with the shenanigans of the incumbent, who I have called out several times in public and on camera while he was present.
This is awesome news! I hope the Obama IRS strips the catholic church of exempt status. If we get really lucky,, maybe next week the FBI wilk walk in and arrest him in his next sermon!
First sic the secret service on Ted Nugent,, now this.
They have no idea how much they are galvanizing their opposition.
FUBO
God Bless Bishop Daniel Jenky!
Just another anti-Catholic guy who interprets Scripture for himself and attacks the Catholic Church whenever he can any way he can.
