BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, March 16, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) A self-proclaimed lesbian whose two children attend a Catholic school near Peterborough is demanding that the Peterborough Catholic school board remove a Catechism quote dealing with homosexuality from a school pamphlet. Ann Michelle Tesluk has started an online petition to pressure the board to action and describes her activities as gearing to make the Catholic Church into an openly gay friendly church.
The pamphlet in question, however, is controversial from more than one perspective. While quoting the Catechism that the homosexual inclination is objectively disordered, the pamphlet also misrepresents Catholic teaching in numerous ways. The pamphlet calls on schools to highlight homosexual role models and familiarize students with terms like LGBTQQ and two-spirited. It indicates that Canada legalized same-sex marriage in 2005 without mentioning that the Church opposes such unions. The heading for the equity pamphlet's section on "homophobia".
Greg Reeves, director of education for the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland Clarington Catholic District School Board (PVNCCDSB), told LifeSiteNews that they have had enough complaints about the pamphlet, called The Colour of Equity, to give the wording a relook to see if they can explain the Churchs teaching better.
The trustees voted 6 to 8 last Tuesday against a request to remove the passage, but Nancy Sharpe, the boards head of communications, said that the pamphlet has been sent for review to the Equity and Inclusive Education committee.
Reeves says the school board felt they needed to include the Catechism passage because they are under the Magisterium of the Church, the teaching and the authority of the Church.
When we were going into the section on orientation, we felt it important that people understand what the Catholic Catechism would say, he explained.
In her online petition, which has garnered 86 signatures thus far, Tesluk says the Catholic Churchs teachings on homosexuality are outdated and harmful and suggests the teachings have exacerbated the problem of teen suicides.
As it is right now, it is derogatory, patronizing and discriminatory, not to mention lacking in scientific evidence, she says. Any child who reads this will be faced, at minimum, with a negative attitude towards homosexuality, she continues. Isnt this what we are trying to prevent? How can we allow any school in Ontario to teach this to our children?
Reeves said the complaints are largely a result of confusion over the Churchs teaching, saying that the Catechisms phraseology is old.
According to Reeves, by calling the homosexual inclination objectively disordered, the Church means that homosexual relationships are disordered. According to Church teaching, he explained, authentic sexual relationships must be both unitive and procreative.
Its not the person whos disordered, he said. Its the concept that the relationship, in the eyes of the Catholic Church in this definition, is disordered.
But Prof. Scott Nicholson, chair of theology at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy in Barrys Bay, Ontario, said the Catechism teaching is not about the homosexual relationship per se, but a disorder in the persons sexual drive.
It is true that acting on it is disordered, he explained, but above and beyond that the inclination itself isnt something that youd find in human beings except for original sin.
In a fallen world, individuals have various disorders in them that may not be any fault of their own but they remain disordered, he continued. Someone born blind, thats an objective disorder because were meant to see, thats what eyes are for. The sexual drive is meant to be inclined and lead people toward reproduction.
If its ordered in a particular individual in a way that isnt inclined towards reproduction then its disordered. Its out of the order for which its meant, he added.
Sharpe said the Equity and Inclusive Education committee will decide whether to remove the language or perhaps explain it, and then make a recommendation to the trustees.
I know that the language of that passage will have to be explained at the committee meeting because many of us dont understand it because it was written by theologians, she said.
Prof. Nicholson noted that the Catechism is not a work of high theology but intended for a wide audience. Its really intended for every educated, and Id even go so far as to say semi-educated, Catholic, he said.
The Church needs to use precise language, he added, to say exactly what it means on issues of importance.
As the provinces Catholic school boards adopted McGuintys equity and inclusive education strategy in the last two years, pro-family advocates warned that it would give homosexual activists a foothold to further undermine the effort to impart Catholic sexual teaching.
According to Tesluk, during the six years her children have attended school in the board, she has held various positions on the local school council.

To quote the perverted homosexual lady gag gag. If this dyke does not like it, then leave!
“Ann Michelle Tesluk has started an online petition to pressure the board to action and describes her activities as gearing to make the Catholic Church into an openly gay friendly church.”
Well, we didn’t see that coming, did we? /ultra-mega-sarcasm
I would not be surprised if Ms. Tesluk enrolled the kids at the Catholic school simply to start this campaign of hers.
I'd like to see her DEMAND the Koran and its teachings be reworded. I'm sure the local Imam would be most accommodating.
maybe she should send her kid to another religious school for ROPers and then the kid will try to throw momma from the tower.....
This is an example of Fluk-ism syndrome, enroll in a religious institioin and then claim that they are being “mean” towards you or your family because their belief system doesn’t like the way you behave....
I doubt that very much. I think that now that "gay rights" are such a hot button issue (attorneys) we will have to confront the arrogance and stupidity of homosexuals and poorly written (Catholic) pamphlets.
It's ALMOST boring.
Obviously still interesting enough to respond to this article. :o)
Throw the Kids out of your school. let her put them in a Public School where deviant, perverted, sexual behavior is acceptable.
I am getting darned tired of this. It makes my blood boil and that it the reaction that they want. They wonder why people go over the edge.
She put her kid into a Catholic school, with all that that entails, including a degree of religious influence, if not outright instruction. I have family members in Catholic schools. None of my family are Catholic. They knew what they were getting when they enrolled, or in one instance accepted a scholarship. Our faith is strong, we do not fear or dislike Catholics although we disagree upon certain matters of faith. The schools in question are fine schools, better than the public schools in their area, and so attending made sense and they're proud to be at Bishop McGuinness.
Perhaps this woman's “faith” in lesbianism is what is so weak, that she cannot deal with any opposing viewpoint? What did she think she was getting?
Kick the kids out of the school.
she is catholic, she knows what it teaches, don’t like it, leave.
“They shall not pass!”
If a gay gene is discovered, will Christians be aborting "gay" babies?
Homosexual teen suicide is another lie created by the left to gamer sympathy for their perversion.....
“...been sent for review to the Equity and Inclusive Education committee.”
What kind of person would want to belong to something called the “Equity and Inclusive Education committee”? I mean I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. Sounds like it’s right next to the soylent green factory.
Nice try....but really lame
It's an aberration of nature. It should be called that. They hate it because they know its true.
I will be gladly called an "abberaphobe".
Kick out her kid. It’s a private school and she is demanding that they become non-Catholic.
If a gay gene is discovered, will Christians be aborting “gay” babies?
No such thing will be found.
Believe or leave.
Homosexual troll alert!
Ah, But of course, that is not the point. This is all just nonsense meant to damage the church.
The thing Leftists cannot stand is that anyone would disagree with them about anything. Anyone with a different opinion than *their* enlightened view must be destroyed. Even if that someone is God.
So, now you have children who are obviously already in a dysfunctional situation, being used as soldiers by a Leftists homo. Great.
Where are the courts now? The ones who are always screaming about ‘for the good of the children’. Where are they when children are being made to bear the brunt of an anit-Christian/pro-Gay protest? How can this be good for them.
Does anyone believe that she enrolled these children in this particular church specifically for this reason and with this agenda in mind? Did she not know what a church is? Is she that stupid? Is she going to enroll her kids in mechanics' school next and then come out against gasoline engines? You guys really should be using bio-fuels. You're hurting the planet!! You're teaching my children bad things!
If this woman were in anyway serious about what she claims to want, she would have removed the children until her ‘demands’ are met. But, she is not serious. She is not behaving in an adult manner in the interests of the children. And, she is putting her children out in public on the front lines as props for her anti-Church gay agenda.
In her upside-down view of reality, I am sure she will claim that the church is hurting ‘the children’, (do it for the children...) and will refuse to recognize that it is her. She created the situation, not the church. She put her children there of her own volition. The church didn't kidnap them.
And, of course, I cannot end without mentioning Muslims. She, or any homo, would never ever do this to a Mosque. They are always looking for soft targets. The irony is that if a gay did try this with a mosque and the Arabs beat the crap of him/her/it, the story would never make the news and there would be no lawsuits at all. If anyone in this Church even looks at her in a way she doesn't like, it will be in every paper in the country and lawyers will descend on the place like locusts. The current state of America is: Church is bad. Islam is sacred.
No Christian would abort a baby. They might call themselves that, but they aren’t. On the other hand muslims will abort gay babies no matter what age they are, born or unborn.
Freep-mail me to get on or off my pro-life and Catholic List:
Please ping me to note-worthy Pro-Life or Catholic threads, or other threads of general interest.
When my husband and I lived in the middle east (for five years), the Saudis forbade abortion. It was against the law. I can't think that the Saudi brand of Islam, which is the MOST conservative brand, has changed. However, I'm sure that there were some bad Muslims who left the country and had the abortion...if they had the money. Not all Saudis are wealthy. I knew a lot of non-wealthy ones.
There IS no test for "gay babies"...yet. But I doubt that the conservative Muslims would allow abortion even for that. They are so...conservative. However, I can't speak for other Muslim countries as I only VISITED them. I do know that Saudi culture doesn't change much or fast. Yes, I have kept in contact with those I knew overseas.
Abortion is RAMPANT in "Christian" countries, but you're right when you say that NO CHRISTIAN would abort. They may call themselves Christian countries, but Christianity stops with the name.
In other news, alcoholics demand scriptures condemning drunkards be removed for the Bible...
It only takes one sick perv to pee in the pool to mess it up for everyone.
Aborting a gay baby would be regarded as a hate crime by some, and a woman's inviolable “right” by others. The mushy middle with vague moral underpinnings would abort them with abandon, because they'd find it embarrassing or an affront to their sense of vanity, despite the appearance of going along with the whole tolerance thing.
This would give rise to a gay pro-life movement, as improbable as that sounds.
Christian pro-lifers would be extremely resistant to accepting abortion under practically any circumstance short of a threat to the life of the mother, and many wouldn't advocate it even then. They'd put it into the hands of God and leave it at that.
It would be bizarre!
Ageee..boot her rebelious ass out...
Freedom of association. Though that was gutted in the sixties (civil rights movement).
When will Christians overturn the moneychangers’ tables? When will we say to those who mock God, “Get out! Take your perversions, your money, your power, your twisted disciples, and LEAVE.
Americans, in general, and Christians, in particular, have have been propagandized and pressured to accept what we know is wrong, but sin is still sin. If we have the courage to take a strong stand, others will follow. We can start by ousting Socialist/Communist officials and continue by cleansing our churches of the secular/humanist corrosion there.
The Church doesn’t need to change because this fruit or any other fruit doesn’t like it.If they do not want to live up to the tenets of Catholicism they need to move on to something that suits them better.
Unfortunately our gay Friendly atmosphere these days does not allow what should be done. Where did the child come from anyway? Is it adopted, a semen plant, was she once married to a man?
What needs to be done is to take this child from her and place it in a family of man and wife. This poor kid hasn’t a prayer of being normal.
Camel’s nose in the tent.
She should start her own church and see where it is 2,000 years grom now.
But wait! Homosexuality isn’t a public issue, a “libertarian” said so! Isn’t it all about giving people privacy in their bedrooms? Somebody missed the memo!
If the Christian is Catholic it would be a mortal sin. But, there WILL be Catholics who abort.
Other Christians? I'm not cognizant of what the other many, many Christians denominations say about abortion. Are you?
If there’s any prenatal source for feminized males and masculinized females, it will be due to hormonal exposure during critical stages of development, imho, that would only create a potential propensity to that particular behavior, not an absolute orientation.
No one is born “gay.” They’re influenced into the behavior via exposure to it when vulnerable, either due to molestation at a young age, or during a traumatic experience with the opposite sex later, after sexual maturity.
Even those born with sexual birth defects that lead to questionable sexuality should choose one or the other for their own good, and the good of society. This muddle and confusion serves no good purpose, we’ve certainly seen that over the past several decades.
Sounds good to me.
Some Hollywood idiots such as Kathy Griffin have been pushing the gay teen suicide thing. Liberals tend to latch on to a cause and seek media attention. It doesn’t matter if there’s any truth to this alleged epidemic of gay teen suicide, just that they get media attention and sympathy from the liberal media.
I have wondered about some of that. Society has never been more open or “tolerant” or accepting of homosexuality than it is right now. Yet we hear so much of gay kids being bullied, suicides, etc.
How is it that society is so intolerant of gays, bullies gays, drives them to suicide, etc. when society has never been more accepting of gays than it is right now?
Brothers and Sisters, we are fast becoming the remnant. Expect to see this corruption of the Church continue and grow as it goes whoring after other gods. We have been warned. Our job is to maintain a faithful Christian witness in the face of an increasingly hostile and relentless attack by the world - it's happened before. In fact, it's generally been the norm. I pray, however, that everyone reading this post remain so steadfast in the face of the oncoming onslaught that the first words they hear when they leave this mortal coil be "Well done true and faithful servant".
If I am not mistaken, in Canada, Catholic schools are funded by the government just like regular public schools...(was that way when we lived there in 1999-2000.) So, THIS could get interesting.
Same sex marriage a grave sin

“With that discovery parents of “gay babies” will be able to abort their “gay baby.”
If a gay gene is discovered, will Christians be aborting “gay” babies? “
Homosexuality is a sin. The Bible says that those who practice it (unrepenting) will go to hell.
God doesn’t send people to hell for their genetics.
Therefore, I am certain there is no “gay gene.” They may announce they found one, but it will be poppycock.
Furthermore, it is not Biblical to kill people because you think they are going to commit a crime.
So to suggest a Christian would abort a baby with a gay or any other type gene is ludicrous.
I’m sorry but there is nothing outdated about the Bible.perhaps it is your thoughts and actions that are out of line with the word of G-d?
Why waste time?
Simply bounce the lezzie from the school without comment or notice, just as the lefties would do with an agitator from the right. Let them then fight to regain status, and at each step play dirty, not nice .... as they do.
Only when these h8ters stop their own dirty tricks should we return to treating them with respect. This “take the high road” behavior (such as Boehner does on pretty much EVERY issue) is just a total losing strategy.
Fight, for chissssakes.
“I would not be surprised if Ms. Tesluk enrolled the kids at the Catholic school simply to start this campaign of hers.”
Just as Mz. Fluke enrolled at Georgetown Law to make her point.
In this case, tho, it’s worse, using kids as political pawns. How could ANY parent put their kids in this position?
One would hope that there was some language in the school’s application to which she agreed in writing about its being a Catholic school, and teaches according to the Catholic Church.
