The Rev. Becky Burton, new executive presbyter for the Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley, was installed the same day the regional body of the Presbyterian Church (USA) voted to call for repeal of the state's new immigration law.

That has been one of her first orders of business as leader of mainline Presbyterians in central Alabama.

"We passed an overture to send a letter calling on the governor to rescind HB56, and that has been sent," Burton said.

...Burton was installed on Aug. 18, the same day the presbytery voted to oppose the state's immigration law.

..Several churches, including First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham and South Highlands Presbyterian Church, have passed their own statements opposing the law. "I think it's a very stupid, stupid law," said the Rev. Ed Hurley, senior minister of South Highlands Presbyterian Church.

More proof that the commie left has taken over the religious institutions in America JUST AS THEY PROMISED THE WOULD right after the 2004 elections. I laughed at the time and said, “Yeah! Right!” Boy was I wrong. They were able to pull it off.

These churches need to get their butts down to Mexico and help the people get a grip on their country so they don’t have to migrate to another country. If they really did care, that’s what they would do.

we have only one chance — in 2012 to give them a hard drubbing. We must have a tea-party conservative in the White house, nothing less. If Obambi is re-elected, expect the US to be third-world by 2020, if a RINO then a bit longer, but inevitably so....
