Actually (suddenly serious here), I know women --- or knew women, it's been years now since I've seen them, but I knew them very well ---- who have been expecting all their adult lives that the Church must of course ordain women priests. And why? Because that's the right thing to do, and the Holy Spirit (or "the Spirit") must guide the Church into doing the right thing. Eventually.

These are gals who for 30+ years have been expecting that this is just around the corner, like the J-Dubs have been thinking the End of the World is just around the corner, and every couple years claim it is jack-dab imminent, and they sell all their property and wait for it on a mountaintop somewhere, but it never happens.

These are not "stupid" women (I mean to say, they do not have subnormal IQ's, and often have beaucoup academic attainments); nor are they "bad" (which is to say, worse than you or me). They just have this idee fixee which happens to be false, and they can't seem to re-work the equation.

I find it puzzling. And I honestly think the reason they don't just jump ship and become perfectly contented Episcopalians, is because they are willing to suffer for the Church to which they are attached in their way, and want to make perfect.

And the bishops don't really challenge feminist nuns, no matter how wackadoo their ideology is --- over a period of decades! --- unless they actually, personally participate in a sacrilegious attempted ordination.

So their whole lives, seems like, have been overcast with this frustration. A column of figures that just never adds up to what they think the sum should be.

“They want two words: I recant,” Father Bourgeois said. “And they can’t get that out of me. For me, the real scandal is the message we are sending to women: you’re not equal, you cannot be priests, you’re not worthy.”

Seems like Father Bourgeois should listen to Jesus. Jesus had every opportunity to choose women to be the ones on which He would lay hands, and anoint, and be the people who would represent Him to the world. He didn't do so, though He did praise those women who were receptive to His Word, and followed His teachings.

Women have been important to the Church for centuries; the religious lives of families are often held together by them. But this priest, and his womyn friends don't have service to the Lord as their goal. They are only interested in changing the rules THEY think the Church has imposed. They'd like nothing more than to see womyn priests, abortion on demand, unfettered research on stem cells, and no more rules about sexual morality. There is already a Church that meets those standards; it's the Episcopal Church. I wish these folks would just be honest, and go over there.

Excellent information. I understand the need for the Church to maintain the traditional requirement that the priest remain unmarried. For the acceptance of woman priests, that is a big change from the traditional role of women in the Church. Given the drastic decline of the sisterhood of nuns, maybe this will bring a new interest to women who want to participate in the life of the Church.

So they have priests, and bishops. Now all they need is a Pope. So go ahead and name one for yourselves. And while you’re at it, why not re-write the Catechism to suit your tastes. Along with contraception, abortion, same sex “marriage” and your women “priests” you will be all set for the great influx of faithful believers. But you’ll have to scratch Easter from your collective calendars because I am sure you do not believe that Christ rose from the dead. And, forget about the Mass you women “priests” are “ordained” to say. Since you don’t believe in the true presence of Christ in the Eucahrist, you can just stay at home and have some cheese with your crackers and wine.

I saw his PBS documentary.
The first thought was why did he ignore the Marxist component in his expose?
The right wing military dictators were wrong in killing their people.
But for the love of God...the Marxists will kill anyone and all, at any time, for any reason.
There was no mention of them. No mention of their support or training schools. No mention of their genocides...none.
It was U.S. bad, Marxism....no comment. No mention of the atrocities, deceptions, false use of Christianity to mislead the poor, promote hatred of the rich and middle class, and anyone who disagrees with them, and finally, the eventual total commitment to Atheistic Materialism where people become non-spiritual disposable units on the grand scale.
Murder is wrong, whether on the right or the left.
But Fr. Bourgeois has ignored the masters of the Killing fields, the Marxists, and for that he is more than negligent...
Nevertheless, as I continued watching his documentary I suspiciously thought, “I’ll bet this priest promotes female ordination and gay rights.” I looked it up and sure enough...he’s on the team! Bingo!
He cleverly used Bp. Oscar Romero personality as a piece in his game, and conveniently forgets that Bp. Romero told his priests to be neither full time civil rights activists for the left nor the right. He is no longer a priest...he’s a left-wing politician.
Father Bourgeois is lost and has forgotten why he became a priest or had the wrong intention and motivation in the seminary.
He has forgotten that obedience is God’s will. Obedience to the superior and to the Church. But now he knows better and has become his own authority. Anyone who disagrees with him is wrong.
He is a pope caught in his own heterodoxy.
May the Holy Spirit invade his heart and bring him to the knowledge of the Truth, the Way, and the Life, Jesus Christ. Without the Church he is a boat without a rudder.
