Herewith a series of links to the exploding blogosphere regarding l'affair Corapi. This will be my last post on this subject. In the meantime.........knock yourselves out.

As I’ve stated in a few other threads, I liked listening to Fr. Corapi.
But isn’t all this attention to one man a little bit, um, much?
When did priests become rock stars?
I don’t know ANY of these ‘authors’ of stories ... and until I see a name I recognize ... I’m just taking all this with a grain of proverbial ‘dead sea’ salt.
Freep-mail me to get on or off my pro-life and Catholic List:
Please ping me to note-worthy Pro-Life or Catholic threads, or other threads of general interest.
rock stars are hounded by groupies, no?
I haven’t read all of them, but I looked at a couple, plus the article that was posted here yesterday.
I have to agree with the three that I read: Whether or not Fr. Corapi was guilty of sexual molestation of some kind, and whether or not the current procedure mandated by the bishops is wise, Fr. Corapi seems to have gone off the deep end with his statement.
I do think that the current “guilty until proven innocent” procedure is highly questionable. But I also think Fr. Corapi is reacting unwisely to his terrible predicament.
There have always been popular and gifted priests who affected many people. That is simply not new.
Bishop Sheen comes to mind as a Rock Star he was #1 rated TV show
I was just thinking about Bishop Fulton Sheen. Still one of my favorite bishops of the 20th century.
False claim on his part. I could care less about the alleged womanizing.
No jump wings, (parachutist badge) no Green Beret. Corapi told a little Green lie.
For later ping for my mother in law
I’m familiar with only one of these folks. Devin Rose has a podcast of Catholic apologetics and faith formation, as well as a recent book I’ve purchased. But I’ve decided to wait on reading any more of Father Corapi, at least for a day or two.
Thank you for compiling this list. I have been thinking a great deal today about Fr. Corapi’s decision and I still can’t make sense of it. Persecution is the usual price for denouncing Satan. Although I can only imagine how frustrating his situation must be for him, I would think he could have persevered a little longer. For someone who I believe was a former boxer, he certainly seems to have a glass jaw.
Corapi has started a new website called:
http://www.theblacksheepdog.us/
“John Corapi (once called father, now The Black Sheep Dog)”
I'm thinking these are the same demons that have probably dogged him (how's THAT for a pun?) his whole life. And I agree. Watch his creepy video if you like:
For later ping for my mother in law
Bishop Fulton Sheen.
Stick a fork in him. He’s done.
That headline is misleading. In the story, Fr. Corapi says he's suspending his public ministry as a priest, since that is what was demanded of him by his religious superiors. He doesn't say he's 'leaving the priesthood'.
Yes, it is. I'd heard about Fr. Corapi, but I'm always suspicious when someone is so 'revered' out of what seems all proportion.
Good Lord, looks like the Christians, like the conservatives, eat their own!
And every comment is backed up with a sanctimonious ‘we’ll pray for him” or “I always thought something was strange about him” or “why doesn’t he just become a quiet martyr to the cause.
A lot of the negativity...and wow, is it ever going full blast on the Catholic sites/blogs...is jealousy of the man’s success at his ministry and how many lives he touched (yeah, but...but...) or its just because he is a priest and we have to knock them down.
With enemies like these, Catholic priests, Christians, and conservatives sure don’t need enemies.
BTW, previous public religious figures probably wouldn’t have survied the internet either..ha.
Yeah, go ahead and remind me that you are just giving “ my opinion”.
In his youtube announcement he said “once called Father” suggesting he’s leaving the priesthood.
“Good Lord, looks like the Christians, like the conservatives, eat their own!

Worth posting again....nail head...and for the slow of mind...he is not “revered”, he is unique because he is orthodox and conservative and he is a real man, lacking the feminization some need and desire.
And now he is calling himself the Black Sheep Dog. This is simply bizarre.
why can’t he be honest? because his lawyers won’t let him? innocent men don’t hire lawyers when there aren’t any criminal or civil charges pending. he is well aware of the woman who is accusing him, his pr statement says he “helped” her more than anyone in his life. he seems to be a self promoter ( especially with his new book, and website ) over promoting faith in Christ. where is the humility? unfortunately, whatever proof of wrongdoing he felt would convict him to the bishop will come out, it always does. unless, of course, the woman is paid a handsome price to stay silent and he lives happily ever after as a miilionaire. ah, the american dream!!
thanks....
What did they expect from a Great Spiritual Warrior?
Fr Corapi has stood strong and often criticized aspects of the American catholic church...We should be supporting this priest if indeed he is standing against a beaurocracy once again.
Let me guess...you are a Catholic Basher?
If I was falsely accused of something, I sure would get an attorney..and the church CAN’T get a lawyer for him.
Yes, he is a promotor, he is a Public speaker, a TV speaker...he is getting the word out in his way..and like other famous preachers, he has a “business”..nobody got upset when Billy Graham had a huge business. Yeesh.
Didn’t Graham write a few books and have massive tent rallies , on TV ALL the time?
and of course, you are judge and jury...and already know the outcome ( ie the big payoff)..Are you sure you are not a psychic or God himself.
seriously? come on, you seriously believe this man would give up the priesthood that easily if all there was is a false charge against him and fear he wouldn’t receive a fair hearing from the bishop? you buy that? you must have also thought bill clinton, jimmy swaggart, weiner and john edwards were also innocent, come on, let’s use our common sense.
Catholic basher????
I INVITE YOU TO CLICK ON MY SCREEN NAME AND HIT THE BOX “IN FORUM”, CHECK ALL MY POSTS AND THEN WRITE ME BACK AND TELL ME IF I AM A CATHOLIC BASHER.
LOL!
if i accused you of cheating on your wife, you would get an attorney? really? why, that charge doesn’t carry any civil or criminal penalty.
same situation here. the good father is accused of breaking his vows, not a criminal or civil matter. why the lawyers???
The big difference between Bishop Sheen and Fr. Corapi is that, though Bishop Sheen was a real showman, the message was never about himself, but about Jesus.
bingo!!
( plus, did BFS dye his beard, what’s up with that? )
This is not a reflection about an unwarranted attack. It is a constructed launch of further aggrandizement. That the priesthood will not be included in his creepy blacksheepdog efforts is a blessing.
Innocent men sure do hire lawyers in situations like this.
Simply put. I expect a civil suit has already been prepared.
A member from his media team shared this is a very exciting move for John and his fans, as for the first time, in a long time, John will be directly in touch with this fan-base by way of social networks.
I won't judge the man regarding any allegations as I am entirely ignorant of the facts. I also don't know whether he is getting anything even close to a fair treatment in this ordeal. However, what is a "media team" refer to in regards to a Catholic priest? And, fans and fan-base? Really? I would have a hard time imagining less relevant terms to the priesthood. I can't imagine why a priest would allow such references to be used on his page. It sets off alarms for me.
Another oddity to me is the tagline at the top of his page, where is written "Truth. Hope. Unleashed." Unleashed? Was he then "leashed" as a priest? I have to say that the use of "unleashed" by a man in this situation gives the impression of a celebration of a newly acquired freedom that was lacking and missed previously. In this context the term makes me uncomfortable, and like the above comments leaves me wondering about what is really happening here.
1 Peter 5:5
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
It is odd that he should call himself the Black Sheep Dog, but even more disconcerting is that video. When I watched it, I could scarcely believe it - the creepy images of wolves and sheep reflected in the eyes of black canine.
I am sorry I called you a Catholic Basher.
Nowadays, its good advice to hire a lawyer...anytime you are in such a situation. If the charges are false, the woman stands to gain lots of money from the church just to “settle”, like the docs often “settle outside of court”.
The church can’t hire one for him..he is on his own.
Billy Graham had a huge “fan ‘ base and a big media corporation to handle the rallies, the huge speeches, his books and videos, etc....AND his donations.
this is a new time, we have to reach out with social media. And the church is WAAAAAY behind on this.
Makes you wonder if the ‘devil’ is motivating him by his actions and decision to abandon his vows.
You can get his book, Life Is Worth Living. It re-chronicles a lot of his shows. One of my most treasured books.
Fr. Corapi announces he’s leaving the priesthood
http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/fr.-corapi-announces-hes-leaving-the-priesthood/
I guess they are ‘misleading’ too?
Fr. Corapi said that he’ll move forward by continuing with ministry within the Church and also outside of it.
I shall continue, black sheep that I am, to speak; and sheep dog that I am, to guard the sheep this time around not just in the Church, but also in the entire world.
Under the name ‘The Black Sheep Dog,’ I shall be with you through radio broadcasts and writing. My autobiography, ‘The Black Sheep Dog,’ is almost ready for publication.
My topics will be broader than in the past, and my audience likewise is apt to be broader, he added. Ill do what I can under the circumstances.
EWTN has an interesting take on Corapi abandoning his vows.
“Fr. Corapi Has Lost It
But at this point it doesnt really matter which one was at fault or whether both were, because Fr. Corapi has taken it upon himself to end the matter by publicly abandoning his priesthood.
If his statement is any guide, this was not forced upon him. This was something he freely chose.
In fact, he may have chosen it some time ago, since his statement says that his autobiography, titled The Black SheepDog, will be published soon. If he began working on this project while he has been on hiatus then he may have chosen to leave the priesthoodor been preparing to voluntarily leave it as a contingency planfor some time.
The name of the book is also worthy of attention: The Black SheepDog. This is a portmanteau of the black sheep and sheep dog.
Black sheep is obviously a common English idiom for a member of a group (typically a family) who either has fallen from grace or who is regarded by members of the group as having fallen from grace. That fits Fr. Corapis status given the sexual misconduct allegations against him.
Whats startling is that he would identify with this label and make it his own. Its embracing an on the run identity that signals separation from and disobedience to the ecclesiastical authorities.
After all, not every person accused of sexual misconduct would embrace such a label. Many would say, Im innocent! Im a white sheep, and I look forward to vindicating myself against the charges that have been falsely lodged against me!
So the embrace of the black sheep label is itself disturbing . . . and unusual . . . a symbol of a rebel or renegade mindset.
Then theres the sheep dog part. And this is really disturbing. Even moreso than the former.
The job of a sheep dog, of course, is to herd sheepto keep them from straying from the fold, to make them go where the shepherd wants, and keep them safe from danger.
Those are obviously pastoral functionsin the proper sense. A pastor (Latin, shepherd) employs sheep dogs to help him protect and guide the sheep and maintain the integrity of the flock.
By embracing the image of a sheep dog, Fr. Corapi thus announces his intentiondespite his public abandonment of the priesthoodto continue in some form of pastoral ministry. It may not be priestlyhe may not be celebrating the sacramentsbut he still sees himself as involved in pastoral work.
But consider the snarling tone in which he writes about his relationship with bishops. Most significantly, consider this statement:
Please dont bother the bishop or complain because it will do no good and it wastes valuable time and energy, both his and yours.
It is hard to read this as anything but a statement that Fr. Corapi plans to ignore ecclesiastical supervision of any kind and continue his pastoral, sheep dog ministry with respect to the sheep of Christs flock, even if Christs duly-appointed shepherds do not want him trying to manage their flocks.
The picture painted by his statement is thus of a sheep dog out of controlone who has turned on the shepherds of the flock and decided that he, not they, knows what is best for them and is willing to defy the shepherds to their faces.
And then theres the weird aspect of the name.
The Black SheepDog?
Really?
Whatever name he may choose for himself, Fr. Corapi has forever ruined any chances he had of functioning as a Catholic priest.”

in that case, he will get the protections of the court system. which goes to prove, be careful what you wish for!
no problem. i love the Lord and His Church and try to always contend for the Faith, as i am sure you do. God bless you.
“The church cant hire one for him..he is on his own.”
Which makes the reasonable person empathetic for the priests that are falsely accused and have little financial means to defend themselves.
They are at the mercy of a Church that is full of corupt CYA Bishops who are quick to coddle the wrong priests and cutoff the right priests. Of course most are too busy finding a way to support ObamaCare and bury Pro Death zealots like Kennedy.
Catholics are quick to join the chorus of the corrupt in the Church.
“Makes you wonder if the devil is motivating him by his actions and decision to abandon his vows.”
...and the same can be said for the Church.
