I only attend small churches with few believers; which I have found that the truth of Gods Grace today is sorely only understood by so few. I only attend after fully reading their statement of faith; and I have visited on-line many mega-church web sites to review their statement of faith and then follow the writings of these often false teachers.
First point: 1 Timothy 2:12-13 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over a man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
Men should be teachers, not women. Churches that promote women as teachers have brought in deceiving spirits of false doctrines. If you do not believe me, then check out the scriptures in Romans through Philemon: these are the doctrines and scriptures for the church today.
1 Timothy 4 reads: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron...
The apostle Paul through Christ, speaks volumes of truth here to Timothy and us today. Let us learn from Paul and Christ, not doctrines of devils which are so often taught at these mega-churches, simply to raise money and self fame; and not to preach Christ and His correct doctrines rightly. Avoid such teachers.

Maybe they can melt it down and 500,000 sets of high quality glassware.
Meanwhile, Rev Schuller can cohost the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. They'll be back in black in no time.

I know of a church in the state of Washington that has about 4,000 regular attenders. Their facility is basically a huge metal building finished off pretty plainly on the inside. Carpet and hard surfaces for the floors and sheetrock for the walls.
They purposely did it that way in order to keep the focus on God’s word and not a building. Paid it off in just a few years and they give LOTS OF MONEY to outreach and missions.

But the behavior of many self-defined Christians--including some here at FR--makes the religion come off as repulsive. The same could be said for some of the anti-Christ posters as well.

Despite all our failings, God is always faithful, so put your trust in Him and not in humans. We will always screw up at some point.

True enough but the purity police and the hall monitors are not what Christianity is about. By definition, attention whores will always grab more then their share of visibility. These self-righteous creeps and Schuller have much in common.

Crystal Cathedral, the megachurch birthplace of the televangelist show "Hour of Power," filed for bankruptcy Monday in Southern California after struggling to emerge from debt that exceeds $43 million. In addition to a $36 million mortgage, the Orange County-based church owes $7.5 million to several hundred vendors for services ranging from advertising to the use of live animals in Easter and Christmas services.
Once one of the nation's most popular televangelists, the Rev. Robert H. Schuller is watching his life's work crumble. His son and recent successor, the Rev. Robert A. Schuller, has abruptly resigned as senior pastor of the Crystal Cathedral. The shimmering, glass-walled megachurch is home to the "Hour of Power" broadcast, an evangelism staple that's been on the air for more than three decades. The church is in financial turmoil: It plans to sell more than $65 million worth of its Orange County property to pay off debt. Revenue dropped by nearly $5 million last year, according to a recent letter from the elder Schuller to elite donors....
....The Crystal Cathedral blames the recession for its woes. But it's clear that the elder Schuller's carefully orchestrated leadership transition, planned over a decade, has stumbled badly.

I remember when the CC was going to be built, this magazine called "The Wittenburg Door" had this piece called "What to do with 6 million dollars." On the one side, there was a caption "You can spend it this way," and a list with things like "send so many guys in third world countries to seminary," "found a Bible school in South America," "dig so many wells in Africa," stuff like that, and the total cost was 6 million dollars. On the other side it said, "Or you can spend it this way: Build a big glass church. Total cost: 6 million dollars." I thought to myself, 'what a waste,' and have never been there, nor have I ever bought anything associated with Mr. Schuller.

Not at all. The reference to smaller churches with few believers is indicative that only a few people inside my community would come to the knowledge of correct Bible doctrine and believe it from the Bible alone and not man's tradition and/or additions to the Bible (as is common in so many large churches, like mega-churches and Roman Catholic churches).
I have found that true Bible doctrine is rarely found in large population of membership... but God's Word has been deposited and understood correctly and Biblically by the unknowns of the world; and certainly small in numerical numbers: thus I only attend small churches with few believers.
To: bibletruth
Not arguing with you but small church is more akin to a small parish. ;)
To: bibletruth
Your statement implies that your little congregation has a small proportion of believers relative to the overall membership, which I don’t think is the implication you intended. But I will concede this point of grammar is insignificant relative to your misunderstanding of Jesus’ own Church.
