A number of state legislatures were persuaded to take steps against the perceived threat as well, mirroring the anti-Catholic fear in their "convent inspection laws." These laws, little remembered today, authorized the warrantless searches of Catholic buildings — convents, monasteries, rectories and churches — for weaponry and for young women supposedly seduced into the nunnery by Catholic lies.

The anti-Catholic fever of the 1920s was not a regional story; it was an American story, extending north, east and west, casting Catholics as second-class citizens for decades.

Ever watch news coverage of the Catholic Church? Versus coverage of Islam? Who are they kidding, they are out to destroy Christianity TODAY while welcoming Islam everywhere.

His foot soldiers, tens of thousands of Catholic men who called themselves the Knights of Columbus, were busily stockpiling arms and ammunition in the basements of their churches, all in preparation for the day when their papist leader would give the signal for the violent insurrection to begin.

Today, the Church Basement. Tomorrow, THE WORLD!!!!!!

MUWAHAHAHAHAhahahahahaha!!!!!!

Don’t you just love liberals? Every so often—usually during an election year—they interrupt their regularly scheduled kicking, pummeling and scourging of Catholics to feign sympathy for them when they think they might be useful as tool to divide conservatives-who-happen-to-be-Christians.

This time it’s over Muslims. Last time a decade ago it had something to do with GWB speaking at a religulous university that didn’t like Catholics.

When some in this country feared Catholicism, it was still a “CHRISTIAN” religion, not a false moon god warrior religion that rules by the scimitar as opposed to a cross. A world of difference, and Catholics never lopped off any heads. And Catholics were in this country from its very beginning, remember Maryland? What a crock this article is.

As someone who is a Catholic, and remember my grandmother’s reminiscences about being Catholic and German during the ‘10s and ‘20s, I found this article extremely interesting.

Of copurse, the question it wants to ask, and leaves to the reader, is: “Does this mean we have a Muslim President in 2060? - or do we have one now, who is afraid to admit it?”

This is another leftist/liberal coverup for Sharia-Islam and what it wants to do to the world, esp. America. Catholics did not want to make America subservient to the Vatican but Moslem “true-believers” want and must work to make America/Americans subservient to Islam and Mecca.

Just as the LAT covered up communism in California during the 50’s and 60’s, poo-pooing it in the campus revolutions, so too, today, they want to underplay want fundamentalist Islam is really about.

Forget about stoning people buried in the ground, hanging little boys from lampposts; Jews from cranes in Iran, cutting off hands, killing homosexuals, alleged adulterers, mutilating women who go out with a male relative escort, those who try to teach in Afghanistan, etc.

This is real yet the LAT times, like its East Coast counterpart the NY Times and too often the Wash. Post, there is “no threat from Islam”.

Tell that to Thai buddhist monks who have been sliced and diced by Thai moslem terrorists!

At my parish, the only thing that gets stockpiled in the basement is donuts. The donut ladies are pretty mean, though. They don’t let me take two :(

Well, actually, Catholics *did* lop off a lot of heads, in the Crusades in the Inquisitions, and in the French Wars of Religion. This doesn’t include simple executions, like those of Mary Queen of England.

But what does the number of heads lopped off, by either side, have to do with the validity of the information discussed in the article?

Ok, interesting table talk… however and nonetheless;

There is no moral equivalence between Catholics or Christians versus the reality of Islam being what it is throughout history. Including its precepts, writings, teachings and actions; one just has to look around the world to know this. The only ones who would attempt to mitigate this reality are the ignorant, Sneaks, Cheats and Lairs.

It was not 12 – 14 Roman Catholic Nuns or Priests and their support system claiming in the name of Allah the need to exterminate Americans or to kill Westerners…nor are they the ones conducting a World War upon those who disagree with them.

Please keep in mind: “Liberalism is a Mental Disorder.”

This ain’t gonna fly. What was the Catholic 9/11 ? Of course, there never was anything like it, not even a tiny miniature version of it. 9/11 split the country right down the middle. It was obvious that day.

Ah yes, how soon we have forgotten when the Knights of Columbus lobbed off heads and had suicide covered wagons blowing up buildings.(/sarc) This Times article is for the historically ignorant.

In the early 1900s, many Americans were genuinely frightened by the perceived religious threat of the Roman Catholic Church and the suspected imperialistic intentions of its leader, the pope. He was plotting the overthrow of the United States, warned the fearful, to "make America Catholic."
Human beings have the positive and Divine right to daily bread, health care, and other aspects of human dignity. In his Luciferian quest for individual Liberty, however, Western man has destroyed the Divinely-ordained social order under which the Church provided these goods. As a result, the heavy hand of the State will now intrude into every aspect of public life in its futile attempt to build a just society. Ironically, the worship of individual liberty instigated by the “reformers” of the Church and the secular counterparts of the “enlightenment” has destroyed the liberty under God that individuals once enjoyed as organic parts of the Catholic and medieval social order.”
-- Catholic FReeper B-Chan (now banned), from his blog “How Liberalism and Libertarianism Destroyed Liberty”
“Maybe now they will begin to see that the Constitution, the Statue of Liberty, and Wall Street are part of the same monstrous history-spanning project that brought us the French Revolution, the Soviet Union, and two World Wars....We Catholics need do nothing but watch and pray. The house of cards John Locke and his contemporaries have built is about to come down upon its own foundation of sand. And after the crash comes, those of us who survive can once again take up the task given us by God after the last pagan empire fell: the construction of civilization based not upon Libery, Equality, and Fraternity, but upon Tradition, Family, and Property. In place of the fallen gods of atheistic Reason and individualist Liberty we will re-erect the twin pillars of Altar and Throne.”

Man, this piece has ‘chutzpah’ written all over it. Since this gal has done her little mental projection exercise today, I guess tomorrow the Pope-is-a-pedophile stories will resume. Well, this Catholic ain’t hurrying to buy a copy of the LA Slimes.

Maybe they were right - look at the horrible damage Kennedys did to America especially Teddy. Teddy immigration laws destroyed this country. Also the liberal American Catholic church and other lib Protestant denominations helping illegals and gay bishops like Gene Robinson.

Lots of very good Catholic hospitals though. I think the largely Catholic supreme court has let us down on the usurper. Hopefully they will hear Mario Apuzzo’s case.

I also remember it was largely the Church and lots of brave men who saved Europe multiple times from Islam.

Imagine America without 170 years of the Catholic vote. Imagine no JFK, no 1960s, no Vietnam, no Lyndon Johnson and Ted Kennedy, imagine no 1965 immigration act, and colonization by Mexico, imagine all Republican Presidents including the last two terms of Roosevelt, imagine an ultra conservative California.
