Or they are reading an incomplete Bible. Books were purposefully omitted because of some of the verbiage.

And they thought people were leaving in big numbers before. Won’t be long before the sound of people will be replaced by the chirping of crickets...mixed with the sound of the post-menopausal warble of the lady preachers’ messages about hugging whales.

True, also the newer translations have changed wording to give a different meaning. That is one of many reasons I am a recovering Methodist.

Are you talking about the translations in the Catholic Church that are slated for Advent of this year? Or some other translations?

Actually the new translations that we are getting are much closer to the original Greek and Latin. Catholics here on FR are happy about them.

I am refering to the translations the liberal Protestant Churches use. My Pastor has done some in depth comparisons, lots of things are changed.

That sounds good. But our pastors cannot do that. All the Readings and Gospels are set out in a three year cycle, even for the Daily Masses.

Mark
Matthew
Luke

John is thrown in for a lot of Gospels during the Easter season, although there are other times they appear also — especially for Daily Mass.

No changing out readings at all.

What Bible does your pastor work from?

The PCUSA ceased to be a true church a long time ago when it no longer recognized the Bible as the word of God. There are some Presbyterian denominations that have remained true to the Bible - the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Church in America, for example.

We go to an OPC church and our son-in-law is an OPC pastor.

Is it sad to say I'm enjoying life more not going to church? I'm going on a Michael W. Smith Cruise starting Sunday and consider that my church for the year. I won't be begged for money from abortionist pigs, I won't hear Obamacare crap and I get to see humpback whales without the Japanese killing them in front of me. I think I'm going to have a good vacation.

Pinging Pan_Yan because I'm so excited about seeing whales in Alaska. When I take pictures of actual whales let me post them on the Whale War threads so that the haters know we actually do love whales, we just hate hippies :)

@ Pan_Yan when I get good pictures of all the whales we will show that FReepers love whales and FReepers can still hate Vegan hippies :)

Maybe you could ping this to the ELCA list. I am a musician and the high school choir are begging me to come back this year. What do I do? I had planned to just not go to church but I feel like I would be letting the kids down.

These kids don't know who bishop hanson is or the liberal agenda of the church and I don't know if I'm ready to move on to another church being single and 27. I feel like I owe it to the kids to stick it out and play keyboards with them and mentor them.

The ELCA church I belong to is the largest in the state of Illinois if I'm not mistaken, but there are some good people here. I completely disagree with the Sr. Pastor on faith and politics but I have his son as one of my employees at my store and I trust him completely.

So I'm stuck in a rut, what do I do???

For those that don't know me I am a right wing conservative Christian.

Laodicean Snyod Presbyterians would be well advised to keep an eye on the sky and stay out of any nearby Presbyterian churches during the convention.

How about voting to allow adultery, stealing, and baslphemey. I thik it is time we allow a line item veto for the Bible, that way everyone is happy.

That egalitarian step has been considered.

Hot on the heels of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s decision to allow the appointment of non-celibate gays to the clergy, another prominent Christian denomination has decided this week to allow practicing drunkards in the pulpit.

Meeting in Las Vegas, leaders of the Evangelical Lukewarm Christians in Apostasy (ELCA-Not the Lutherans) voted in favor of giving their local congregations the authority to choose ministers or lay leaders who may be in “lifelong, monogamous relationships with alcohol.”

Said the denomination’s president, Ben Halifax, “Since the Lutheran ELCA has courageously decided to ignore the condemnation of homosexuals in 1st Corinthians 6:9-10, we figured it was time for our own denomination to ignore the verses’ reference to drunkards and immediately loosen our outdated and unloving restrictions on boozehounds.”

A motion to also include the acceptance of clerical fornicators, adulterers, idolators, thieves, revilers, and swindlers was tabled until next year’s meeting. . . . .

IMHO, you must not go back. To do so puts your stamp of approval on their apostasy. I was ELCA and left for the far more conservative Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. I have not had one moment of regret.

There is a political aspect to this. The ELCA is a left-wing political organization. Read the history of the National Council of Churches and you will see how they are purely political. This goes for the PCUSA, too. They are both beyond saving. Get out, now!!!

Leave, but only after explaining why.

You are not letting the kids down, the denomination is. Maybe your witness to the truth (calmly, with love) may inspire others to live their Christian faith better. Maybe others agree and just need you to speak up first. Or maybe they disagree and it will become clearer that there is nothing more you can do. If you find another church, there will be children there who need you, too. If you keep doing the music for the kids where you are and do not air your concerns appropriately, they will more likely grow up as mistaken as their parents.

Also, pray before you say anything, so your words will be Spirit-filled.

Best wishes.

“mixed with the sound of the post-menopausal warble of the lady preachers’ messages about hugging whales.”

Funny stuff I must admit.

What is happening to the Christian Church? This is unbelievable. Beware Christians, The Word of God is being twisted and stolen.
